<p>The Department of Development and Alumni Relations is seeking applications for an Executive Director of Alumni Relations. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations is a key leadership role within the Development and Alumni Relations team, responsible for fostering meaningful connections between the institution and its alumni community. This position will develop and execute strategies to enhance alumni engagement, strengthen lifelong relationships, and promote philanthropic support. This position provides a unique opportunity to connect alumni to the mission of the institution, fostering a lifelong sense of pride, loyalty, and engagement.</p> <p>Founded in 1850, Hiram College provides students of all backgrounds with an attainable private education that teaches the 21st-century skills needed to thrive professionally and personally in the face of inevitable and constant change. Recognized by Colleges of Distinction, The Princeton Review, U.S. News and World Report, and as a top baccalaureate college by Washington Monthly, Hiram enrolls over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students in academic programs on its Northeast Ohio campus and online.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy to build strong and enduring relationships with alumni. </li><li>Cultivate and steward alumni who give between $5K - $25K. </li><li>Execute and manage a comprehensive annual giving program to increase alumni giving </li><li>Develop tailored marketing and communication strategies in collaboration with the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations to inspire alumni engagement. </li><li>Oversee signature alumni events, including alumni weekend, alumni awards event, reunions, homecoming and networking opportunities. </li><li>Collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and other campus offices to create programs that integrate alumni into the life of the college. </li><li>Develop, facilitate, and oversee a comprehensive communication strategy for alumni engagement, encompassing the creation and distribution of newsletters, social media campaigns, and other digital and print content. </li><li>Serves as the primary point of contact for alumni inquiries, providing excellent service and support. </li><li>Provide strategic oversight for the Alumni Executive Board to advance alumni engagement objectives, including supervising the staff responsible for managing board operations and ensuring effective coordination of meetings, initiatives, and communication. </li><li>Support fundraising campaigns by promoting alumni participation and contributions. </li><li>Establish measurable goals for alumni engagement and regularly assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives. </li><li>Provide regular reports on alumni engagement activities, participation rates, and outcomes. </li><li>Collaborate across departments to enhance alumni engagement. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated success in leading teams and in securing five figure gifts from individuals. </li><li>Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences. </li><li>Proficient in developing and implementing effective communication and marketing strategies. </li><li>Expertise in planning and executing events, managing volunteers, and fostering alumni relationships. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, senior leadership, faculty, and external stakeholders. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to address challenges and changing priorities. </li><li>Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce) for managing donor portfolios and recording interactions. </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in alumni relations, development, or a related field with a proven track record of raising funds. </li><li>Proven track record of managing and mentoring a team of fundraising professionals. </li><li>Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute long-term engagement plans. </li><li>Proficient in digital communication tools and social media platforms. </li><li>Collaborative team player with the ability to build relationships across various stakeholders. </li><li>High level of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information. </li></ul> <p>Application Process:</p> <p>Qualified candidates are encouraged to send a letter of application, resume, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three professional references to HR@Hiram.edu.
