<p>Multi-Language Learner Teacher Position</p> <p>ENL High School Teacher</p> <p>Position Type: Certified Teacher</p> <p>Start Date: 2025-2026</p> <p>Qualifications: To be considered, the applicant must hold a current ENL teaching license (preferred) or ENL TOR Certification prior to September 1, 2024. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a similar role with students needing ENL support.</p> <p>Overview of the Position: Mt. Vernon High School seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, knowledgeable, and team-oriented professional to fill a social studies teaching position at Mt. Vernon High School.</p> <p>Requirements: The applicant must be able to deliver quality instruction, effectively assess student learning, and provide additional support and/or enrichment when appropriate. The applicant must demonstrate good communication skills with all stakeholders, display effective organizational and planning skills, and utilize technology to benefit student learning. Candidates must be fluid in Indiana social studies standards for grades 9-12.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide highly effective instruction for English learners </li><li>Address all aspects of instruction specific to English learners that develop each student's ability to read, write, speak, and listen across the curriculum. This may happen individually, in small groups, or in the classroom setting with the goal of application and the transfer of learning in the general education setting </li><li>Knows and uses the WIDA Standards to differentiate instruction appropriate for each English language proficiency level </li><li>Partners with the ENL Coordinator to present ENL professional development in reading, writing, and math, specifically using ENL strategies. Prepares for and delivers high-quality, dynamic, professional development sessions during staff meetings and/or other designated times </li><li>Works with the ENL Life Coach/Family Liaison to involve ENL families in extracurricular community activities and school events. Continuously works to help ENL families integrate into the community </li><li>In instances where the ENL teacher is co-teaching with the classroom teacher, the ENL teacher develops and maintains a supportive co-teaching environment; teachers work together to plan, assess, and reflect upon lessons and data </li><li>In partnership with the ENL Coordinator, administers WIDA testing </li><li>Writes, maintains, and revises ILPs with teachers, as needed, using IILP </li><li>Interprets and analyzes NWEA, ILEARN, and WIDA data specific to ENL norms to build ILPs and support classroom instruction </li><li>Demonstrates ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful, culturally sensitive, and professional manner </li><li>Advocates for students and families </li><li>Pursues ongoing learning opportunities and shows a willingness to learn from the insight of others; is a team player </li></ul> <p>Salary/Benefits/Hours</p> <ul> <li>Per Teacher Contract </li></ul> <p>Interested applicants should submit the following through the certified application process via Skyward:</p> <ul> <li>resume </li><li>letter of interest </li><li>College transcripts </li><li>copy of teaching license </li><li>3 letters of recommendation </li><li>certified teaching application </li></ul> <p>Contact Information</p> <p>Brooke Tharp</p> <p>Email: brooke.tharp@mvcsc.k12.in.us</p> <p>Per Certified Teacher Contract</p> <p>185 Days</p>
