Assists the department supervisor/manager in coordinating the overall department's function and maintenance.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ol> <li>Patient Care </li></ol> <p>a. Supports licensed staff: Assist with patient care activities as directed by therapist. Activities are specific to each area and may include, but are not limited to</p> <p>i. Patient room/treatment area set ups for treatment</p> <p>ii. Set up patients on exercise equipment</p> <p>iii. Activities related to video fluoroscopic swallow studies</p> <p>iv. Provide second person assist</p> <p>v. Obtain assistive devices (Hoyer, Spryte, etc.) as needed</p> <p>vi. Obtain durable medical equipment and paperwork</p> <p>b. Provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate under the direct supervision of clinical staff</p> <p>c. Performs activities that help maintain flow of patient care in the department.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Environment and Department Maintenance/Infection Control </li></ol> <p>a) Assists in the maintenance of the department's overall physical environment</p> <p>b) Maintains practices according to infection control guidelines for the department</p> <p>c) Monitors pool chemistry per departmental guidelines as applicable to area</p> <p>d) Cleans and disinfects equipment per departmental guidelines</p> <p>e) Performs and documents quality control of identified equipment</p> <p>f) Documents temperature checks of identified equipment</p> <p>g) Performs daily, weekly, and monthly departmental checklists</p> <p>h) Maintains organization and cleanliness of the DME and supply closets</p> <p>i) Completes audits for walkers, gait belts and chairs on patient units as applicable to area</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Clerical Duties: Performs clerical duties to assist with daily operations of the department including: </li></ol> <p>a. Scheduling appointments as applicable to area</p> <p>b. Answering phones</p> <p>c. Calling patients as directed</p> <p>d. Inventory management</p> <p>e. Photocopying and filing</p> <p>f. Faxing and scanning</p> <p>g. Data collection</p> <p>h. Daily/weekly/monthly departmental checklists</p> <p>i. Co-payment/payment collection as applicable</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Communication </li></ol> <p>a. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, colleagues, patients, and family members</p> <p>b. Alerts manager/clinician to any immediate departmental/patient issues</p> <p>c. Appropriately uses all forms of South Shore Health communication in accordance with standard practices</p> <p>d. Responds in a timely manner when feedback is requested</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Educational Activities </li></ol> <p>a. Serves as mentor to new rehabilitation aide staff</p> <p>b. Actively participates in department projects/events/activities/meetings</p> <p>c. Actively promotes rehabilitation services to frontline colleagues, patients, and families</p> <p>d. Serves as departmental ambassador to visitors (tours/observation of patient care)</p> <p>e. Assists with continuous Quality Improvement activities, as directed</p> <p>f. Takes responsibility for continuing professional development education</p> <ol start="6"> <li>Technology and Learning </li></ol> <p>a. Possesses a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization</p> <p>b. Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently</p> <p>c. Accurately uses all software applications as needed for job performance</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Professional Behaviors </li></ol> <p>a. Maintain a professional and appropriate manner of conversation</p> <p>b. Maintain composure during stressful situations</p> <p>c. Complete clinical and non-clinical tasks as well as assigned activities according to policies, practice guidelines and assigned deadlines</p> <p>d. Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department</p> <p>Non-Essential Functions</p> <ol> <li> <p>Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the department and hospital</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned</p> </li></ol> <p>JOB REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Minimum Education - Required</p> <p>High School diploma/GED</p> <p>Minimum Work Experience</p> <p>One (1) year healthcare-related experience preferred.</p> <p>Previous rehabilitation experience desirable.</p> <p>Required Classes/Skills -</p> <p>BLS - Basic Life Support</p> <p>varied shifts as needed</p> <p>Responsibilities if Required:</p> <p>Education if Required:</p> <p>License/Registration/Certification Requirements:</p> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)</p>
