<p>Type:Full TimeSalary/Pay Rate:$52,000-$55,000/yearPosted Date:04/23/2025</p> <p>Facilities & Services Division</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Electrical Foreperson and Assistant Electrical & HVAC Foreperson, works with other Electricians and HVAC Workers engaged in the installation, inspection, repair, servicing, and maintenance electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits, for generating, distributing, and utilizing electrical energy, and heating and air conditioning systems.</p> <p>Works with various machines and hand tools common to the electrical trade. Prepares or works from sketches, plans, and specifications in accordance with building codes or acceptable trade practices.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Inspects, repairs, maintains, and/or installs electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, motors, emergency generators, fire pumps and other equipment, pumps, power circuits, controllers of machines, and elevators. </li><li>Develops effective work plans, gives assignments/instructions to subordinates, and supervises their work. </li><li>Conducts performance appraisals of subordinates and effectively recommends hiring, firing, and discipline as necessary. </li><li>Estimates labor, materials, and equipment needed for new or repair work. </li><li>Installs, maintains, inspects, repairs, and services high- and low-tension power and light feeders, generating and control equipment, relays, transformers, motors, pumps, switches, outlets, signal systems, and other electrical wiring, cables, fixtures, and appliances of varied types. </li><li>Uses various types of test equipment such as ammeter, voltmeter, and ohmmeter as well as balometer, CO meter, CO meter, and thermometers and hygrometers. </li><li>Makes emergency electrical repairs, trouble shoots malfunctions and breakdowns; inspects work in progress and completed work for defects, fire hazards, or other unsafe conditions. </li><li>Works from electrical and/or HVAC schematics, plans, and specifications in accordance with established procedures. </li><li>Plans and lays out the routing, placement, type, size gauge, balance, load, continuity and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. </li><li>Prepares estimates of labor, materials, and equipment needed for completion of work projects. Requisitions, stores, safeguards, electrical and HVAC equipment, materials, and supplies. Maintains records of equipment used, work done, and time spent. </li><li>Checks conformity of work with applicable plans, specifications, and codes. </li><li>Shovels snow and/or operates equipment used in snow removal. </li><li>May be assigned work of other crafts, as needed or in an emergent situation. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by management. </li><li>Apply for, maintain, and comply with NJDEP Air Permits for boilers and generators. </li><li>Act as liaison for maintenance and repair contracts for HVAC, boilers, chillers, elevators, and electronic controls. </li></ul> <p>Essential Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Ability to obtain a NJ Journeyman's card. </li><li>3 years of experience in work involving installation, inspection, repair, servicing and maintenance of electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits, including supervisory experience. </li><li>Knowledge of National Electric Code and other applicable codes and standards. </li><li>Knowledge of the nomenclature of various types of conduits and fittings, cables, insulators, and other electric equipment. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams. </li><li>A valid New Jersey Driver's License with Class B CDL required or ability to obtain CDL during the probationary period and acceptable driving record. </li></ul> <p>Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Somerset County policies and procedures. </li><li>Familiarity with County facilities. </li></ul>
