<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Reading Specialist 0.5 FTE (Benefits Eligible)</p> <p>Unionville Elementary School</p> <p>Available 2025-2026 school year</p> <p>Required Certification: Reading Specialist PK-12</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Reading Specialist is a highly qualified and collaborative educator responsible for providing leadership and support to enhance literacy instruction and improve reading outcomes for all students. This individual will work directly with students, teachers, administrators, and parents to implement evidence-based reading interventions, provide professional development, and foster a school-wide culture of literacy. The Reading Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring all students develop strong foundational reading skills and a lifelong love of reading.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred). </li><li>Valid Pennsylvania teaching and reading specialist certification. </li><li>Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience at the elementary level preferred. </li><li>Deep understanding of evidence-based reading research and best practices in literacy instruction. </li><li>Experience in administering and interpreting a variety of literacy assessments. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to provide effective reading interventions for struggling readers. </li><li>Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instruction. </li><li>Experience in providing professional development to teachers (preferred). </li><li>Proficiency in using technology to support literacy instruction and data management. </li><li>Knowledge of differentiated instruction and strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners. </li></ul> <p>Applicants must submit the following documents as part of their online application:</p> <p>Cover letter and resume</p> <p>Pennsylvania Department of Education Certificate</p> <p>Unofficial copy of transcripts, undergraduate and graduate</p> <p>Three state-mandated clearances dated within one year</p> <p>Three letters of recommendation dated within one year</p> <p>Clearances required for employment:</p> <p>Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)</p> <p>Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Check (Act 34)</p> <p>Federal Criminal History Record Check (Act 114)</p> <p>Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release: Unionville-Chadds Ford School District uses an online process for the submission and processing of required Act 168 forms.
