In this position, you will primarily be assigned to Critical Care and Medical/Surgical Units, floating between various departments as needed. At Akron General, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families every day, all while pursuing higher education resources and advancing your skills.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li>Complete ongoing assessments, recognize significant changes in patient condition and respond appropriately. </li><li>Develop and update goals as needed and involve the patient/family (or designee) in development. </li><li>Provide nursing care and administer medications/treatments. </li><li>Delegate tasks/assignments to employees according to their abilities, serve as a resource person and acknowledge peer accomplishments. </li><li>Satisfactorily complete Critical Care Course as administered by Staff Development (if new to critical care) and NIH Stroke Scale training (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) (if new to critical care during orientation) and ACLS and TNCC certification (within one year of appointment). </li><li>Revie and documents progress of care and discharge goals with patient/family. </li><li>Identify need and accept responsibility for becoming a consistent caregiver for patients with complex care needs. </li><li>Participate in and document patient care, discharge planning and case management conferences and communicate information at shift report. </li><li>Assist in orientation of RNs, LPNs and other hospital personnel. </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing </li><li>Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) </li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) </li><li>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within one year of hire </li><li>One year of current RN ICU or acute care experience in a hospital setting </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
