<p>This position with NCDOT offers full State Benefits , competitive salaries and many career development opportunities. </p> <p> <em>Salary Grade: NC09</em> Salary Range $39,671-$69,426*</p> <p>This position performs field and office engineering for the maintenance operations that are overseen in Division 14, Henderson County. This position supervises and coordinates reviews of technical plans and drawings relating to driveway permit applications, utility encroachment requests, subdivision design standards, and petition for additions. </p> <p>This position is required to work nights and weekends as needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather conditions and on uneven surfaces and slopes.</p> <p>Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of understanding contracts, plans, standards, and specifications. </li><li>Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications. </li><li>Working knowledge of computer equipment, (I-pads, desktop), software (MicroStation and ArcGIS) and mathematical functions. </li><li>Experience in maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry. </li><li>Experience in conducting independent, moderately complex inspections, with limited supervision. </li></ul> <p>Additional Expectations</p> <p>General knowledge of surveying and methods, equipment and materials used in highway construction; general knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications and inspection procedures, ability to take good notes and good communication skills.</p> <p>Safety Toe Shoes Required. </p> <ul> <li>Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation. * </li></ul> <p>Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience."
