<p>Req Id: 28551</p> <p>Job Title: Post Doctoral Research Associate Single Molecule Imaging</p> <p>City: West Lafayette</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>One Post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Bio-imaging and Biophysics laboratory at the West Lafayette campus of the Purdue University (PU). The candidate will work with Dr. Jing Liu (liu456@purdue.edu) and will be affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The laboratory focuses on the application of physical science in fundamental cell biology, which have a direct therapeutic impact on various diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease.</p> <p>The candidate will work on a NIH funded project (2022-2027) to study the biophysical properties of the chromatin dynamics, and its reciprocal relations with the intracellular activities, such as DNA damage, transcription, and epigenetic modification. The candidate will develop novel imaging methods and biophysical tools to understand the chromatin dynamics at a single molecule level.</p> <p>The candidates will receive mentorship from both a biophysicist and a cell/cancer biologist, and will have the access to the state-of-art facilities and resources in the Purdue University and Indiana University School of Medicine, including IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCC), Indiana Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases (CDMD), and Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB). In particularly, the candidate will have the full access to training workshops and pilot grant opportunities that are offered by the Purdue University and Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Dr. Liu directly at liu456@purdue.edu.</p> <p>Job Requirements</p> <p>REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>PhD in relevant fields such as optics, bio-imaging, or biophysics. Experience in single molecule imaging is desired not required. </li><li>The candidate is expected to have excellent skillset in developing optical instrument and associated data acquisition/processing algorithms. </li><li>The candidate is expected to have motivations to learn new techniques and knowledge in computational biophysics, DNA biophysics, and bioinformatics. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work in a team with interdisciplinary members, and to work independently with minimal supervision.
