<p>This position is a 245-day administrative position as Elementary Assistant Principal starting July 1, 2025. A job description is attached. The Lafayette School Corporation offers a competitive wage and one of the states finest benefit plans. The initial contract will be a 2-year contract from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027. Those working as certified, contractual staff with the Lafayette School Corporation who hold an administrative license from the State of Indiana should complete and submit an INTERNAL application and email their resume to bhawkins@lsc.k12.in.us by Friday, April 4, 2025. Deadline for all INTERNAL and EXTERNAL applications is Friday, April 4, 2025.</p> <p>LAFAYETTE SCHOOL CORPORATION POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: Elementary Assistant Principal</p> <p>RESPONSIBLE TO: Building Principal</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shares the responsibility of instructional leadership with the building principal. Assumes such authority as may be delegated by the building principal and shall make recommendations to the principal aimed at improving the school program.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Assist in the coordination, with all LSC staff, to provide quality educational opportunities for the youth of our community.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and evaluate staff and pupil performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist as directed in the financial and business management of the school.</p> </li><li> <p>Work in concert with Building and Grounds, Cafeteria, and Transportation Supervisors for effective and efficient operation of these support services.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in developing and maintaining positive school-community relations.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the principal in ensuring the safety and welfare of students.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement corporation policy and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.</p> </li></ol> <p>ILLUSTRATION OF KEY DUTIES: Shall include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Assist in screening and evaluating applicants and make recommendations to the building principal.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in planning and conducting of workshops and staff meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the master scheduling process.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the evaluation of staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement Board policy and administrative procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the principal in assigning duties to ensure a safe, clean and attractive environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide feedback of the work of cafeteria personnel and bus drivers as it pertains to the building.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the principal in directing the work of secretarial personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide input for individual scheduling.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure guidance and counseling services are coordinated with instructional program.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise extra-curricular activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and coordinates student convocations.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce school rules and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Administer discipline/according due process to students and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and identifies problems of school attendance.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult students who may be experiencing difficulty in personal and social adjustment.</p> </li><li> <p>Resolve problems relating to student/teacher relationships.</p> </li><li> <p>Confer with school personnel and parents in order to meet the needs of each student.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise pupil conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigate complaints of student behavior and recommend appropriate response.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the direction, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the principal in communicating with parents and citizens of the community to develop support for the school and promote participation by the community in school programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with community, social and law enforcement agencies as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Seek parental involvement and support in solving student-related problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the summer school program.</p> </li><li> <p>To serve as a member of the LSC management team and on any committee as appointed by the school board, Superintendent of Schools, or his designee.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in local, state and national professional organizations and encourage such participation by staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as delegated by building principal.</p> </li></ol> <p>POSITION SPECIFICATIONS</p> <p>A. Education and certification requirements</p> <p>a. Master's Degree</p> <p>b. Current Indiana Teaching License (any content area)</p> <p>c. Current Indiana Building Level Administrator's License</p> <p>B. Skills and abilities</p> <p>a. Demonstrate leadership or exhibit the potential to display leadership in a managerial capacity.</p> <p>b. Must be able to establish rapport with students, patrons, and staff.</p> <p>c. Must possess effective listening, speaking and overall communication skills.</p> <p>d. Advanced understanding and application of teaching pedagogy</p> <p>e. Ability to assess complex problems and evaluate and identify potential solutions.</p> <p>f. Ability to effectively coach and support staff in the areas of</p> <p>i. lesson planning</p> <p>ii. classroom management</p> <p>iii. professional conduct</p> <p>iv. and other activities and methods related to teaching.</p> <p>C. Experience</p> <p>a. Five years of teaching experience preferred</p> <p>b. Two years of successful teacher leadership experience preferred</p>
