<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Join the dedicated team that maintains clean and enjoyable living and recreation areas for Wisconsin veterans who call our facility home!</p> <p>Custodians at WVHUG are responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and sanitizing tasks in occupied and unoccupied patient rooms, common areas and offices, to maintain a homelike environment for the residents of our facility. Duties include but are not limited to cleaning toilets, showers, and furniture; floor care; operating automatic cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, sweepers, and carpet cleaning machines; and shoveling snow.</p> <p>Click the link to request a copy of the full job description.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Starting wage is $16.18 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.</p> <p>Sign-on bonus of $2000 for eligible new hires. $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and $1000 will be paid when the employee completes their original probationary period.</p> <p>Both positions are eligible for an attractive employee benefits package.</p> <p>Custodian is in pay schedule-pay range 03-08. For current State employees, pay on hire will be set following the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.</p> <p>This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Custodians at WVHUG work the day shift Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. The full-time position requires availability to work scheduled hours as needed, which may include additional weekends or holidays and overtime.</p> <p>The part-time position works 24 hours a week with 8-hour shifts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.</p> <p>Job duties require climbing, reaching and bending; performing sustained physical activity; performing heavy work, including occasionally exerting more than 100 pounds of force; operating loud, shaking and/or vibrating equipment; and working on ladders and/or scaffolding.</p> <p>Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.</p> <p>Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.</p> <p>A 12-month probationary period may be required.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>In their resume, minimally qualified applicants will describe their experience performing paid or unpaid work.</p> <p>Additional required and preferred experience that will be assessed later in the selection process are:</p> <ul> <li>cleaning and using cleaning products; and </li><li>following written and verbal instructions including work assignment changes; and </li><li>working cooperatively and communicating with others; and </li><li>following safety procedures and using personal protective equipment (PPE), including when using chemical agents; and/or </li><li>performing custodial tasks and using custodial equipment and tools; and/or </li><li>following sanitizing procedures and using chemical sanitizing agents; and/or </li><li>problem solving </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>To be eligible for consideration for a job, complete the online application process.
