<p>Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement Requirements</p> <p>The School of Music at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/music) invites applications for an</p> <p>Assistant Professor of Practice - Choral Studies position starting in August 2025.</p> <p>Demonstrates quality of teaching, quality of research and scholarly activity, quality of professional, University, and community service, and professional conduct. Must have experience and credentials as outlined in academic unit guidelines for Assistant Professor, Practice.</p> <p>The Faculty of Practice is a full-time non-tenure track (NTT) faculty member with practical experience in industry, business, medicine, government, law, and/or other professional fields. The primary purpose of such a position is to share real-world knowledge with students in a classroom or experiential setting in support of degree, certificate, and/or licensure programs.</p> <p>Additional Position Information:</p> <p>Duties will include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct Concert, Chamber Choir and other vocal ensembles as assigned. </li><li>Coordinate and direct all aspects of the Choral Music Program including teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Choral Literature, Advanced Choral Conducting, and Advanced Choral Techniques as determined by the needs of the choral program. </li><li>Establish and maintain a strong positive rapport with public music teachers and the music community within the state and region. </li><li>Actively recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate students of high quality, as well as student participation in choral ensembles from the greater university community. </li><li>Additional duties will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and the needs of the School of Music. </li><li>The successful candidate will assist in the development of choral music curriculum and maintaining of </li></ul> <p>NASM standards for choral music education.</p> <p>The School of Music at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/music) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice - Choral Studies position starting in August 2025.</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master of Music in Choral Conducting or a closely related field of study. </li><li>Evidence of successful teaching and conducting experience at the professional, university or secondary level. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Expertise in vocal pedagogy, keyboard competency, and musicianship necessary to support students' vocal, musical, and pedagogical development. </li><li>Evidence of outstanding professional competence as a choral conductor. </li><li>Evidence to attract and retain undergraduate and graduate students. </li><li>Evidence of collaboration and collegiality within and outside the faculty environment. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to lead and direct a dynamic choral music program serving the entire university campus. </li><li>Evidence of successful work with public school music teachers and a positive rapport with the music community at large. </li></ul> <p>The mission of the UA School of Music is to provide a rigorous performance and academic education</p> <p>through community engaged teaching, research, and service.
