Exercises independent judgment regarding patient care. Provides a wide range of nurse practitioner services in episodic care, management of chronic conditions, and health promotions including counseling and teaching. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES:</p> <p>50% - Essential - Patient Treatment and Documentation: Performs comprehensive assessment of complex patient's needs, including appropriate family history and complete physical examination and distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings. Orders diagnostic testing including radiologic and laboratory studies. Interprets findings. Documents all pertinent data. Develops a therapeutic plan of care for acute and chronic illnesses to health teaching, effects of medication and treatments, anticipated outcomes and appropriate follow-up visit or referral. Refers patients when deemed medically or psychologically necessary to Counseling and Psychological Services, specialists or to a third-party facility for consultation, review, and/or further action.</p> <p>35% - Essential - Counseling and Health Care: Provides health care within the recognized guidelines and the State of South Carolina Board of Nursing for nurse practitioners, Student Health Services (Redfern) policy, practice and procedures and The Joint Commission accreditation standards. Promotes patient wellness by counseling in health habits, lifestyle and prevention of health problems and illnesses. Counsels and educates parents and family members as requested by the patient regarding the patient's condition. Functions within scope of practice delineated by the State of South Carolina and maintains required certifications, licenses and education as per The Joint Commission standards and Department of Health Regulations.</p> <p>15% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Provides instruction and direction to nursing staff. Serves as a role model and teacher for nursing staff. Initiates and participates in patient educational programs and seminars. Participates in quality improvement activities to monitor and improve standards of nursing. Manages own workload in order to promote both quality and efficiency. Participates in chart reviews and performance improvement activities.
