<p>Assabet Valley Regional Vocational School District ACADEMIC TEACHER</p> <p>REPORTS TO:Director of Academics & Title I Services REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:MA DESE Licensure</p> <p>Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment ? Teaches full-time to students in grades 9-12. ? Promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality and coherent instruction; designs and administers authentic and meaningful student assessments. ? Delivers instruction to students in accordance with the Curriculum Frameworks issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. ? Design learning activities that will relate skills to the real world and apply them to academic & vocational programs where appropriate. ? Develops lesson plans; maintains a weekly syllabus and a daily agenda. ? Maintains an online course learning management platform (ie. Google Classroom) that students can access both in school and outside school as necessary ? Takes part in curriculum development and revision. ? Analyzes student performance and growth data, using this data to improve instruction, providing students with constructive feedback on an ongoing basis, and continuously refining learning objectives. ? Use a variety of both formative and summative assessment strategies to allow students to show their understanding</p> <p>Teaching All Students ? Promotes the learning and growth of all students through instructional practices that establish high expectations, create a safe and effective classroom environment, and demonstrate cultural proficiency. ? Provides individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and differentiates instruction when necessary. ? Accommodates the special needs of individual students. ? Establishes and maintains standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment for all students in the classroom. ? Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports and report cards.</p> <p>Family and Community Engagement ? Promotes the learning and growth of all students through effective partnerships with families, caregivers, community members, and organizations. ? Contacts parents to notify them of students' declining progress, whenever necessary. ? Attends Special Education Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher's presence is required. ? Provides supervision and extra help to students where needed.</p> <p>Professional Culture ? Promotes the learning and growth of all students through ethical, culturally proficient, skilled, and collaborative practice. ? Attends meetings as required by contract. ? Carries out other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Classroom Management</p> <ul> <li>Communicate clear behavioral expectations. </li><li>Maintain classroom routines and procedures without significant loss of instructional time. </li><li>Adhere to the Classroom Management Plan. </li><li>Support and adhere to the disciplinary policies and procedures of the school. </li><li>Attend to safety requirements. </li><li>Take disciplinary action appropriate to the behavioral infraction. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: ? This is a ten-month, Full-time (1.0 FTE), school-year position (187 days). ? Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers' Contract. ? Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers' Contract. ? A criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required. ? The successful applicant must undergo mandatory ethics training and pass an online ethics test developed by the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.</p> <p>EVALUATIONS: As per the Teachers' Contract.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION ? Must be licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to teach ? Must demonstrate the ability to work with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the public in creating an atmosphere where individuals feel welcome and respected. ? Must be able to work as part of a team and independently. ? Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. ? May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable.</p>
