<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>This position is responsible for planning and coordinating nursing lab activities for the PNC programs ensuring safe and effective use of all lab facilities and equipment to facilitate student development. The Instructor works collaboratively with the program director and instructional faculty to align lab experiences with curriculum to promote student competencies, and serves as lab faculty during the weekend PNC program and promotes and supports Maria's positive student-focused culture of academic excellence and inclusivity. This position reports to the PNC Program Director.</p> <p>Major Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and teach lab </li><li>Develop and use sound and varied means/measures to assess student learning outcomes </li><li>Provide remediation to students </li><li>Develop and participate in student orientations and new student events as scheduled </li><li>Collaborate with staff in Student Services to connect students with necessary resources </li><li>Serve on Nursing Department and College committees </li><li>Act as a resource person to students in the nursing skills laboratory </li><li>Set up and provide practice areas for students to prepare for the performance of nursing skills </li><li>Assist students to achieve proficiency in performance of nursing skills </li><li>Evaluate student's performance of nursing skills through competency validations and simulations </li><li>In collaboration with the Nursing Lab Coordinator, orders supplies and equipment necessary for student's needs </li><li>Participates in weekly Lab and Simulation Faculty Meeting as scheduled. </li><li>Assists with the maintenance of the equipment and supplies in the Skills and Simulation labs. </li><li>Assists with adjunct faculty orientation. </li><li>Sets objectives for the lab classes based on new research and "best practices". </li><li>Prepares lab classes according to the course syllabus and evidence-based practice. </li><li>Assures that skills taught in the lab are consistent with course objectives. </li><li>Demonstrates good interpersonal and organizational skills. </li><li>Follows inventory control procedures to monitor supply levels, allocate costs accurately, and ensure supplies are on hand when needed. </li><li>Assures accurate data collection and record keeping procedures used to evaluate student learning. </li><li>Facilitates deployment of new equipment and supplies. </li><li>Monitors equipment safety and performance. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the College. </li><li>A caring, student-centric approach to teaching and evaluating students. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds. </li><li>Demonstrate empathy and respect for students </li><li>Create a culture that encourages student expression of ideas </li><li>Strong interpersonal and time management skills. Genuine interest and a commitment to advancing collaboration and teamwork. </li><li>Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills to interface with all College departments as well as external partners. </li><li>Must be highly organized and flexible to adapt to changing priorities and must be able to produce exceptional products under tight deadlines. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and diverse faculty, staff, and student body. </li><li>Demonstrate empathy and respect for students. </li><li>Role model the mission of the College in practice settings </li><li>Create a culture that encourages student expression of ideas. </li></ul> <p>Technology Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with BlackBoard LMS and Student Information Systems. </li><li>Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as software applications relevant to area of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in nursing from an accredited institution. </li><li>Experience teaching pre-licensure level nursing courses </li><li>Experience supervising students in clinical settings </li><li>A minimum of two-years of clinical experience as a registered nurse preferred </li><li>A current unencumbered RN license in the state of New York. </li></ul> <p>Salary: $30,000 per year (20 hours per week)</p> <p>Interested candidates must submit the following.</p> <ul> <li>Letter of Interest </li><li>Curriculum Vitae </li><li>Name and contact information for three references </li><li>Transcripts (unofficial for application purposes) </li></ul> <p>and send it to resumes@mariacollege.edu with "Nursing Lab coordinator" in the subject line.</p>
