<p>ESY/ Summer Nurse BEEP FY 24</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The public schools of Brookline is seeking school nurses for our summer programs, working in our pre-K school.</p> <p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Provide direct and appropriate nursing care to students; assessment, treatment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management and referral as indicated. </li><li>Prepare and maintain accurate student health records, including current immunizations as mandated by state regulations. Timely documentation of daily health encounters into Electronic Health Record. </li><li>Collaborate with other summer nurses to review health records of newly enrolling students and input into SNAP electronic health system. </li><li>Promote a healthy school environment, including ensuring immunization compliance. </li><li>Adhere to existing Individual Health Care Plans for students with health care concerns. </li><li>Administer daily and PRN (as needed) medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's health care provider and in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health. </li><li>Collaboration with interdisciplinary team in development of 504 or IEP's as indicated </li><li>Collaborate with school staff regarding safety plans for handicapped or special needs students. </li><li>Employ cultural competency in delivering effective care in this diverse community. </li><li>Initiate emergency procedures for students and staff as needed. </li><li>Communicate with parents/guardians regarding individual student health issue in a timely manner </li><li>Other responsibilities as assigned by Coordinator of School Health </li></ul> <p>Abilities Required:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to provide direct nursing care </li><li>Ability to administer first aid and CPR </li><li>Ability to respond to an emergency including carrying emergency bag, climbing stairs, and pushing student in a wheelchair. </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Ability to use technology including electronic health records </li></ul> <p>Requirements Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Current MA Registered Nurse License; </li><li>Current CPR certification; </li><li>MA DESE School Nurse License; </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Minimum of 3 years' experience as a nurse, preferably in pediatrics, emergency or public health</p> <p>The Public Schools of Brookline is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching or practice to the diversity and excellence of the PSB community.</p> <p>The Public Schools of Brookline is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
