<p>Summary</p> <p>Chatham High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our Marching Band program for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate students while fostering a positive and inclusive environment. This seasonal position requires strong musical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with students, staff, and parents. The Marching Band Director will be responsible for the overall direction, organization, and administration of the marching band program, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for all participants.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement a comprehensive marching band curriculum that aligns with school goals and standards. </li><li>Conduct regular rehearsals, ensuring effective use of time and resources to maximize student learning and performance. </li><li>Plan and prepare for performances, including competitions, parades, and school events. </li><li>Coordinate logistics for events, including transportation, equipment, and accommodations as needed. </li><li>Collaborate with other music educators and staff to enhance the overall music program at Chatham High School. </li><li>Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and progress. </li><li>Foster a positive team environment that encourages student growth, self-discipline, and teamwork. </li><li>Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their musical skills and performance techniques. </li><li>Manage the marching band budget, including fundraising efforts and expenditures. </li><li>Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay current with best practices in music education and marching band techniques. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field. </li><li>Previous experience directing a marching band or similar ensemble preferred. </li><li>Available for Band Camp August 11-16 </li><li>Available for Wednesday Evening Rehearsals from August 20, 2025 to mid-November from 4-7pm. </li><li>Available for weekly sectionals Monday and Tuesday Evenings 5-7pm </li><li>Weekly football games and 3 competitions throughout the fall </li><li>Strong proficiency in instrumental music and conducting techniques. </li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building relationships with students, parents, and staff. </li><li>Knowledge of marching band repertoire and drill design. </li><li>Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. </li></ul> <p>The School District of the Chathams provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</p> <p>This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.</p> <p>The use of Duo Mobile on a personal device is a requirement of employment at the School District of the Chathams.</p>
