Through our research, outreach and entrepreneurial projects, Clemson University and its employees are driving economic development and improving quality of life in South Carolina and beyond.</p> <p>So,... are you ready?</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on assigned buildings and systems as a member of a multi-skilled maintenance area member. Serves as the primary maintenance representative for University Facilities in assigned buildings. Works with occupants to investigate and identify problems. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES:</p> <p>30% - Essential - Preventative Maintenance:</p> <p>Performs general building and systems preventive maintenance as directed and scheduled. Inspections and general repair of mechanical rooms, air compressors, vacuum, DI water, pumps and other systems in accordance with University Facilities PM Program.</p> <p>30% - Essential - HVAC:</p> <p>Performs inspections, filters and belts changes as scheduled or needed fan coils, air handlers, VAV and reheat units. Unstops drain-lines and cleans unit strainers.</p> <p>20% - Essential - Plumbing:</p> <p>Unstops toilets, urinals and sinks. Tests and replaces failed valves and parts. Clears drains and lines with manual or powered auger as needed.</p> <p>10% - Essential - Electrical:</p> <p>Changes bulbs, ballasts, switches, receptacles and covers. Traces circuits to isolate problems. Measures current (Amps) and voltages to verify proper circuit function. Checks and sets building clocks and automated lighting systems.</p> <p>10% - Essential - Safety:</p> <p>Compiles with all OSHA and University safety standards. Performs LOTO (Lock Out and Tag Out) in accordance with University Facilities policy. Adheres to EPA and DHEC rules. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education - Maintenance experience related to the area of employment.</p> <p>Work Experience: 1+ years</p> <p>PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent - Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC or General/Industrial Maintenance Experience.</p> <p>Work Experience: 3+ years</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>JOB KNOWLEDGE</p> <p>Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.</p> <p>BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>70% - Stand for prolonged period</p> <p>70% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period</p> <p>80% - Walk or move about</p> <p>45% - Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc</p> <p>45% - Ascend or descend (i.e. stairs, ladder)</p> <p>60% - Position self to accomplish task (i.e. stoop, kneel, crawl)</p> <p>90% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself</p> <p>45% - Recognize or inspect visually</p> <p>60% - Move, transport, raise or lower</p> <p>90% - Extends hands or arms in any direction</p> <p>10% - Use taste or smell to detect or determine particular flavors or odors</p> <p>45% - Perceive, observe, clarity of vision</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>35% - Exposure to heat or cold</p> <p>35% - Exposure to dust/fumes</p> <p>35% - Wet or humid</p> <p>35% - Noise</p> <p>25% - Vibration</p> <p>25% - Mechanical hazards</p> <p>15% - Chemical hazards</p> <p>25% - Electrical hazards</p> <p>5% - Radiant energy hazards</p> <p>25% - Burn hazards</p> <p>5% - Overnight Travel</p> <p>20% - Exposure to bio-hazards (i.e. blood, bodily fluids)</p> <p>WORK SCHEDULE:</p> <p>onday - Friday, rotating shift, four days a week 10 hour days, subject to callbacks, overtime and occasional weekends. Standard Hours: 40</p> <p>COMPENSATION INFORMATION</p> <p>Expected Salary Range: ($ 32,686.00 - $ 38,985.00)</p> <p>Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL</p> <p>Essential Level 1 employee</p> <p>Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions.
