They investigate communications disorders and often different kinds of behaviors that manifest with communication difficulties.</p> <p>A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, 8:00am-6:30pm or 9:00pm-5:30pm.</p> <p>A caregiver who excels in this role will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide clinical services to patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret and report test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide counseling and education about communication and the diagnosis to patients and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine therapeutic plans, including the need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Select assistive speech devices to improve the patient's communication.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide observations about hearing and other behaviors to help determine the need for other services.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain records of all services.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such as schools and employees.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology</p> </li><li> <p>Hold or be eligible for a Speech Pathology (SP) license from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology</p> </li><li> <p>Hold a Speech Pathology license in the state of Ohio</p> </li><li> <p>Hold Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of a nine-month clinical fellowship year</p> </li></ul> <p>Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
