<p>Summary</p> <p>The Marching Band Percussion Advisor at Chatham High School will provide expert guidance and instruction to the percussion section of the marching band during the competitive season. This role is essential for fostering musical excellence, teamwork, and a positive learning environment. The advisor will work closely with the band director and other staff to develop a cohesive and dynamic percussion program that enhances the overall performance of the marching band.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Conduct regular rehearsals for the percussion section, focusing on technique, rhythm, and ensemble playing. </li><li>Collaborate with the band director to design and implement a percussion curriculum that aligns with the marching band's musical selections and goals. </li><li>Provide individual and group instruction to percussion students, offering constructive feedback and encouragement. </li><li>Assist in the arrangement and selection of percussion parts for marching band music. </li><li>Coordinate and oversee the maintenance and care of percussion instruments and equipment. </li><li>Prepare percussion students for performances, including competitions, parades, and concerts. </li><li>Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all percussion members, promoting teamwork and camaraderie. </li><li>Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and performance details. </li><li>Attend and contribute to all marching band events, including camps, rehearsals, and competitions. </li><li>Evaluate student progress and provide recommendations for further development. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field preferred. </li><li>Available for Band Camp August 11-16 </li><li>Available for Wednesday Evening Rehearsals from August 20, 2025 to mid-November from 4-7pm. </li><li>Available for weekly sectionals Monday or Tuesday Evenings 5-7pm (day depends on section) </li><li>Weekly football games and 3 competitions throughout the fall </li><li>Expertise in one or more of the following: woodwinds, brass, percussion, color guard, marching/visual technique </li><li>Previous experience working with high school marching bands or similar music programs is a plus. </li><li>Strong leadership and communication skills. </li><li>Knowledge of music theory, marching techniques, and band repertoire. </li><li>Must pass background checks as required by school district policies. </li></ul> <p>The School District of the Chathams provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.</p> <p>This policy applies to all terms and conditions of employment, including recruiting, hiring, placement, promotion, termination, layoff, recall, transfer, leaves of absence, compensation and training.</p> <p>The use of Duo Mobile on a personal device is a requirement of employment at the School District of the Chathams.</p>
