<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Student Resource Navigator (Senior Special Programs Coordinator)</p> <p>This is a benefited part time (30 hours per week, 12 months a year) position</p> <p>BARGAINING UNIT/NON-UNIT, CLASSIFICATION (If Applicable): MCCC, Senior Special Programs Coordinator</p> <p>ANTICIPATED START DATE: As soon as possible</p> <p>SALARY RANGE: $35.31 an hour, per the MCCC 2025 Part Time Salary Grid.</p> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:</p> <p>The Student Resource Navigator (Coordinator of Alternative Studies) plays a vital role in supporting Workforce Development students throughout their educational and career journeys. This position is responsible for guiding students from initial recruitment through training enrollment, skill-building, and job placement, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to succeed. The Navigator will assess student needs and interests, provide targeted academic and professional skills support, and help resolve barriers that may impact their progress. Additionally, this role facilitates the transition from GCC-sponsored services to community-based resources, ensuring continued success beyond training.</p> <p>Using a case management approach, the Student Resource Navigator will collaborate closely with academic advisors, admissions coordinators, and other college departments to provide seamless support. This position will also lead training sessions on work readiness, professional skills, and other key topics to empower students in noncredit programs. Through personalized guidance and meaningful connections to campus and community resources, the Navigator will play a critical role in fostering student success, retention, and career advancement.</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>Resource Navigation:</p> <ul> <li>Proactively assist prospective and enrolled noncredit students with setting goals and identifying and overcoming potential obstacles; </li><li>Provide individual coaching to enrolled noncredit students to identify their interests, strengths, and employment objectives; </li><li>In collaboration with the Dean of Workforce Development, monitor students' progress in Workforce programs; </li><li>Connect students with the GCC services as needed to be successful in their training programs, such as loaner Chromebooks, access to disability services or peer tutoring, transportation support, childcare solutions, GED prep, food pantry, academic accommodations, and others; </li><li>Liaise with admission coordinators at GCC to share and disseminate to students relevant program information to facilitate their enrollment at the college; </li><li>Liaise with academic advisors to help connect credit students to short-term trainings and connect non-credit learners to academic pathways; </li><li>Help orient students to critical deadlines, policies, and tools at GCC, as needed; </li><li>Collaborate with other support services to meet the personal, social, emotional, and academic needs of Workforce students; </li><li>Enroll eligible students in SNAP Path to Work* and manage all required reporting to ensure compliance with this federal agency. </li></ul> <p>Work Readiness Support:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain the Workforce Development Office's career closet and ensure students are prepared for job placements with work-appropriate attire; </li><li>In collaboration with the Dean of Workforce Development and the Career Readiness Coordinator, maintain a close ongoing partnership with the MassHire Franklin County Career Center's workshop team to facilitate the delivery of work readiness workshops to Workforce Development students. </li></ul> <p>Instruction:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver instruction of Work Readiness skills and Professional Skills (communication, professional accountability, self-regulation in the workplace) to Workforce Development students; </li><li>Deliver Classroom Management training to Workforce Development trainers; </li><li>Instruct in workshops or program areas relevant to background/experience, as needed </li></ul> <p>Employer Relationship Building:</p> <ul> <li>Under the direction of the Dean of Workforce Development, participate in industry advisory boards to learn about challenges as well as opportunities for job seekers in key industry sectors, while also representing the student/worker voice; </li><li>Provide support to employers on better positioning their workplace to support and retain the contemporary workforce; </li><li>Provide ongoing support to Workforce Development students post-training and make community connections as needed when challenges threatening job retention emerge for students post-training. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in Education or related field </li><li>At least one year of experience teaching adult learners </li><li>Experience with implementing accommodations and IEPs </li><li>Experience and/or training in de-escalation and crisis prevention </li><li>Administrative experience, specifically with the Microsoft Office Suite, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and with the Google Suite, such as the Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Gmail tools airtable </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SOFT SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Excellent organizational skills </li><li>Maintains a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving and developing innovative solutions to address challenges </li><li>Ability to multitask and manage competing projects </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Strong familiarity with the social services agencies and community organizations in the Pioneer Valley that support underserved adults in the region </li><li>Experience teaching and/or working in a community college environment </li><li>Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds </li><li>Experience working with students who possess wide ranges of life experiences, academic abilities and career interests. </li><li>Experience with on-line learning management systems (Angel, Blackboard, Moodle, etc) </li><li>EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: </li></ul> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>In order to be considered for this position, you must submit your credentials online.</p> <p>To apply, click on the "Apply Now" button.</p> <p>You will be prompted to set up a new account or login to an existing account.</p> <p>From there, you will be able to upload the following required documents for consideration:</p> <ul> <li>Resume </li><li>Cover letter </li></ul> <p>References will only be checked at the finalist stage.
