<p>Hiram College invites applicants for a visiting position at the Assistant Professor or Instructor rank in Education beginning in August 2025.</p> <p>Education is situated in the School of Health, Education, Sustainability, and Society, along with the Biomedical Humanities, Crime, Law, and Justice, Environmental Studies, Integrative Exercise Science, Nursing, Public Health, Psychology and Sociology programs.</p> <p>Hiram College, established in 1850 as the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute, is a nationally respected private residential liberal arts college located 30 miles from Cleveland in the historic Western Reserve region of Ohio. At Hiram, close student-faculty interaction and innovation is routine. The College's distinctive academic calendar, the Hiram Plan, offers students the opportunity each semester for a 3-week intensive course, study abroad/away program, internship or research experience. It is an exciting time to be a Hiram Terrier!</p> <p>Hiram College is committed to building an inclusive and vibrant educational environment and the student population is diverse in many ways, including economic background, ethnic heritage, and educational interests.</p> <p>Hiram College is seeking an Assistant Professor or Instructor of Education in the field of Elementary/Middle Childhood Literacy and Intervention. A minimum of 3 years teaching experience in an Elementary or Middle School classroom and/or literacy-related Intervention Specialist position, and a current teaching license in at least one of these areas are required. Licensure in both areas either separate or dual would be an asset. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach all Elementary/Middle Childhood Literacy content including Phonics, Children's and Adolescent Literature, Reading Diagnosis and Intervention, as well as courses in a proposed Intervention Specialist major. Professional development, coursework and expertise in Science of Reading is required as per State of Ohio mandate. Additional duties may include foundational education coursework and college core coursework and/or contributing to college efforts to increase graduate level coursework for educators. Candidates with an earned doctorate are preferred, however ABD and Master's candidates with exceptional expertise will be considered.</p> <p>Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and names of three (3) professional references with address and phone numbers electronically as a Word or PDF document(s) to HR@hiram.edu.
