<p>Title: Special Education Related Services</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors or Master's Degree </li><li>State or National Board licensure as required </li><li>Valid Ohio Pupil Services License </li><li>Strong communication skills </li><li>Experience in related services field </li><li>Required criminal background check </li><li>Meets USCIS I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification </li></ul> <p>Reports To: Superintendent/Designee</p> <p>Job Goal(s):As a member of the educational team, supports the education of students suspected of and/or diagnosed with a disability in their least restrictive environment. Recommend individualized education programming based on evaluation data to the educational team for a student identified as a student with a disability. Performance Responsibilities:</p> <p>1.Adheres to procedures for identification, evaluation, placement and re-evaluation of students in need of related services. 2.Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention. 3.Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation within the school environment. 4.Evaluates and reports on student progress. 5.Serves as a resource to parents, school team, staff and administration on disabling conditions and their effects on education. 6.Collaborates with community based therapists and other healthcare providers for effective coordination of service. 7.Assesses need and recommends assistive technology necessary for function at school. 8.Provides consultation regarding emergency evacuation of students with disabilities. 9.Participates in planning for accessibility and environmental modification. 10.Manages inventory of therapeutic equipment and assessments and projects needs for budget planning. 11.Provides legal and ethical supervision of therapy assistants and assumes responsibility for students served by assistants. 12.Uses a variety of modern methods, techniques and practices to provide intervention to students with disabilities. 13.Assumes responsibility for district compliance with regulations regarding required related services to students with disabilities. 14.Maintains the cumulative records of students receiving related services. 15.Initiates, facilitates and maintains liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet pupils' special needs. Refers parent and child to agencies when appropriate. 16.Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student related services strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning and service delivery. 17.Participates in the development and implementation of in-service and training programs. 18.Attends IEP team meetings and assumes responsibility for the preparation and timely submission of all required data, documents and reports, in order to assure district compliance with legal requirements and EMIS reporting. 19.Provides and follows schedules for assigned schools and informs appropriate personnel of departures from schedule. 20.Arranges travel time to maximize contact with students and to accomplish other duties. 21.Engages in continuing education and professional growth activities related to licensure and education. 22.Maintains confidentiality of information on students with disabilities.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, and Other Responsibilities 1.Knowledge of IDEA Requirements. 2.Ability to work effectively with others. 3.Ability to communicate ideas and directions clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. 4.Organizational and problem solving skills. 5.Ability to generate correspondence independently. 6.Respects confidences shared by the staff and operates in a discreet manner in all related matters. 7.Performs other tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent directs.</p> <p>Additional Working Conditions 1.Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue. 2.Occasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions 3.Occasional alternative/flexible hours/days. 4.Occasional travel. 5.Occasional interruption of duties by staff and/or telephone. 6.Occasional interaction with aggressive, disruptive, and unruly children, and may have to assist with behavior modification. 7.Occasionally required to assist and lift children with mobility and physical needs, and occasionally assist with getting children on and off transportation vehicles. 8.Supplemental contracts or compensation may be awarded by the district for additional duties and responsibilities, at their discretion.</p> <p>Note: The above lists are not ranked in order of importance.</p> <p>This job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the incumbent.
