<p>Our district is accepting applications for a temporary Relief Paraprofessional at our Sewell School. Employment is for 5.95 hours per day, Monday through Friday, at a rate of $16.81 per hour.</p> <p>NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:</p> <p>Provides direct aid to teachers or other certificated staff members; assists in the classroom activities of school children; does other related duties. Relief Paraprofessionals provide regular or supplementary services to children during teacher preparatory periods and teacher/paraprofessional lunch periods and as needed/directed by the preschool administrator.</p> <p>JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The Relief Paraprofessional shall:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the teacher with classroom instructional tasks as assigned. </li><li>Work with students individually and in small groups to assist with the learning of content and skills introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Assist the teacher with clerical work, record keeping, preparation of instructional materials, set up of learning centers, preparation of displays and bulletin boards, and other non-instructional tasks as assigned. </li><li>Assist the teacher and students with cleanup from activities. </li><li>Assist the teacher with supervision of students. </li><li>Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Help to facilitate co-op learning groups. </li><li>Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. </li><li>Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher. </li><li>Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Assist the teacher in the correction and feedback on student work. </li><li>Check notebooks, correct papers and supervise testing and makeup work, as assigned by the teacher. </li><li>Perform clerical duties related to the instructional program including attendance reports, collection of money, duplication of materials and distribution and return of notices to home. </li><li>Help the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin board and other classroom learning displays. </li><li>Participate in in-service training as assigned. </li><li>Read to students, listen to students read and participate in other forms of oral communication with students. </li><li>Help very young children with their clothing, snack routine and toileting activities. </li><li>Assist the teacher in the supervision of the students and assume responsibility for taking groups of students to the lavatory, playground, cafeteria or other places in the school. </li><li>Assist the teacher on field trips, cultural arts programs and any other group activities. </li><li>Help with lunch, bus, hallway and playground duty. </li><li>Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. </li><li>Redirect a restless or inattentive child into appropriate activities. </li><li>Be sensitive to and assist students with special needs and adjust the instructional tasks as needed. </li><li>Assist the teacher in communicating with parents. </li><li>Accompany and assist the teacher in supervision on approved instructional field trips. </li></ul>
