<p>Position Title: Special Education Teacher</p> <p>Location: Galvin Middle School</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field </li><li>Master's degree in Special Education preferred </li><li>Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) required </li><li>SEI Endorsement preferred </li></ul> <p>Key Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and maintain IEPs for students with disabilities, ensuring goals and objectives are tailored to meet individual needs. </li><li>Provide Direct Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction in academic, social, and behavioral areas to students with disabilities in various settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms </li><li>Assess Student Progress: Conduct formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instruction based on data, and report progress to parents and other stakeholders. </li><li>Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications, ensuring students with disabilities can access the general education curriculum. </li><li>Facilitate Inclusion: Support the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classrooms and school activities, promoting a positive and accepting environment for all students. </li><li>Behavior Management: Implement behavior intervention plans and use positive behavior supports to manage and improve student behavior. </li><li>Family Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress, challenges, and successes, and involve them in the educational process. </li><li>Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to special education, and maintain accurate and confidential student records. </li><li>Collaborative Team Member: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including related service providers, administrators, and outside agencies, to support student success. </li><li>Other duties, as assigned </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Building Principal</p> <p>Compensation: Commensurate with Wakefield Public Schools' Unit A salary schedule</p>
