<p>Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, an independent Catholic college preparatory high school in the Holy Cross Tradition is seeking a Head Cheer Coach. If interested, please go to Cathedral's Career page at gocathedral.com/careers and complete the online application.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Head Cheer Coach at Cathedral High School will be responsible for developing and leading a competitive cheer program that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while incorporating our Holy Cross values among all team members. This role requires an individual who is passionate about cheerleading, skilled in coaching techniques, and committed to a positive experience for all student-athletes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor young student-athletes while promoting school spirit. The Head Coach is called to be kind, collaborative, innovative, zealous, engaged, joyful and effective in their role.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree </li><li>Prior coaching experience is essential; experience in coaching cheerleading at the high school or collegiate level is often preferred </li><li>AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches & Administrators), NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations), or equivalent safety certifications preferred </li><li>A thorough understanding of cheerleading techniques, safety regulations, stunting skills, choreography, conditioning exercises, and performance standards </li><li>Strong background in cheer choreography, dance, and training techniques </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) </li><li>Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate high school students effectively </li><li>Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. </li><li>A commitment to promoting a positive team culture </li></ul> <p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Organize and oversee all aspects of the cheer program, including practices, cheerleading events, performances, competitions, & fundraising events </li><li>Develop and implement training programs focused on cheerleading techniques, skills development, and physical conditioning </li><li>Coordinate practice schedules, overseeing training sessions to enhance athletes' skills in stunts, routines, and performance techniques </li><li>Ensure a safe practice environment by teaching proper techniques and adhering to safety standards like USA Cheer National Safety Standards </li><li>Organize and lead tryouts for cheer team members, ensuring fair selection based on skill level and teamwork </li><li>Establish goals for the cheer team and monitor individual as well as team progress throughout the season </li><li>Recruit new members while cultivating existing talent within the squad </li><li>Maintain equipment inventory and ensure that all uniforms are properly fitted and maintained </li><li>Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and support staff regarding expectations, progress, and events </li><li>Manage the cheerleading team's budget, schedule games and practices, help to arrange transportation, and oversee uniform distribution </li><li>Stay up to date on current trends in cheerleading techniques and safety standards. </li><li>Create a cohesive cheer program, to involve feeder schools in our community </li><li>Act as a role model for student-athletes by exemplifying sportsmanship, integrity, and dedication to the program </li></ul> <p>REASONING ABILITY:</p> <p>Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands & fingers as well as talk or hear routinely throughout the work day. Employees must also be able to climb, kneel, balance, stoop, crouch regularly as part of this job. Employees must occasionally be able to lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
