<p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Department of Strategic Communication, Organizational Communication and Leadership in the College of Communication at Butler University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer who will also manage the college's online degree completion program, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (BSOL). This is a three-year appointment, which can be renewed. The expected start date is summer 2025. This position primarily manages curriculum development and management, recruitment, enrollment, course scheduling by cohort, and promotion for the BSOL Program in collaboration with college, campus, and community partners.</p> <p>This position also teaches courses within the BSOL program, develops courses for the program, and potentially teaches within the onsite traditional program in the Department of Strategic Communication, Organizational Communication and Leadership.</p> <p>We seek applicants with strong professional and teaching experience in higher education, including the management of large academic curricular programming. They also must have a commitment to the integration of theory and practice, experiential learning, and best practices in online pedagogies.</p> <p>Minimum qualifications include:</p> <ul> <li>MA in Organizational Leadership, Organizational Communication, or related field </li><li>Experience teaching undergraduate courses in organizational leadership or organizational communication </li><li>Demonstrated experience in online course development and teaching </li><li>Excellent written communication skills </li><li>Expressed desire to work with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds </li></ul> <p>Preferred qualifications include:</p> <p>While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Administrative leadership experience, including but not limited to:</p> </li><li> <p>Scheduling courses</p> </li><li> <p>Managing budgets</p> </li><li> <p>Recruiting and mentoring instructors</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to develop and teach a range of courses in the BSOL program</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with effectively connecting and collaborating with campus and/or community partners</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Effective organization skills</p> </li><li> <p>Effective classroom management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience and commitment to welcoming people of all backgrounds in an educational or work environment</p> </li><li> <p>Successful experience recruiting and retaining adult learners</p> </li><li> <p>Successful experience in the following:</p> </li><li> <p>working collaboratively with others (e.g., committee service, being part of a production team, co-teaching)</p> </li><li> <p>working independently (e.g., supervising a production, course development)</p> </li></ul> <p>To apply, candidates must submit through the online portal:</p> <ul> <li>A letter of application outlining qualifications, a teaching philosophy, and experience with/commitment to teaching a diverse student body </li><li>Curriculum vitae </li><li>Teaching evaluation for at least one course where you have been instructor of record </li><li>Contact information for three references, at least two of whom who can speak to your ability or promise as an instructor </li></ul> <p>Review of applications will begin April 9, 2025, and continue until the position is filled. Consideration will only be given to complete applications.</p> <p>About the College of Communication: The College of Communication enrolls approximately 550 students across its 8 majors. CCOM is a dynamic and forward-thinking college that seeks to create a welcoming learning environment with a student-focused approach. Lecturers in the College have a typical teaching load of 4 courses per semester with an expectation for creative/professional activities; however, this position will have a teaching load of 2/2 for the Fall 2025 semester along with responsibility for managing the BSOL Program. The load may be adjusted pending enrollment in the program.</p> <p>Butler offers generous financial support for creative works, innovations in curricular development, and travel to present for domestic and international conferences.
