<p>The New England Conservatory, an independent not-for-profit institution, is recognized internationally as a leader among music schools, educating and training musicians of all ages from around the world. As part of NEC's mission to make lifelong music education available to everyone, the Preparatory School and School of Continuing Education delivers training and performance opportunities for children, pre-college students, and adults.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The custodian performs daily and periodic cleaning tasks in assigned areas to maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment for students, visitors, and other staff members. The custodian keeps the custodial supervisor informed of incidents requiring actions and/or replacement, fills in temporarily on other jobs as assigned, and performs daily and scheduled housekeeping duties as required.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Adhering to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying with OSHA, state, local, federal, and NEC regulations </li><li>Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and emptying trash </li><li>Scrubbing, rinsing, refinishing, buffing, and stripping floors </li><li>Extracting and/or bonneting carpet </li><li>Removing spots in carpet and or hard floors </li><li>Washing windows, walls, and light fixtures </li><li>Cleaning and disinfecting restrooms fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions, floors, etc. </li><li>Replacing restrooms supplies as necessary </li><li>Removing snow and spreading ice melt on sidewalks as needed </li><li>Keeping the custodial supervisor informed of incidents requiring action and/or repair </li><li>Properly cleaning and maintaining housekeeping equipment </li></ul> <p>Qualifications/ Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Experiences working in custodial field or floor maintenance </li><li>Knowledge of floor care, tile, carpet, and floor care equipment </li><li>Skill in operations of floor machines, buffers, extractors, wet vacuum and auto scrubber </li><li>Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions </li><li>Able to lift, carry, push or pull at least 50 pounds of weight </li><li>Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions as related to physical risks and exposure to hazardous chemicals </li><li>Able to operate machinery and power tools, including saws, snow blowers, snow brooms, and basic hand and power tools brooms, and basic hand and power tools </li></ul> <p>NEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer that recruits and hires qualified candidates without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, or veteran status.</p> <p>Annual Clery Report</p> <p>In accordance with the federal Clery and Campus SaVE Acts, New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) commits to providing all current and prospective students and employees with access to the annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report.
