<p>Position Summary</p> <p>Old World Wisconsin is a 600-acre outdoor living history museum located in Eagle, Wisconsin. Guests explore homes, farms, and businesses that come from across Wisconsin, exploring stories of place and perseverance from the 1840s to the 1930s. With a focus on hands exploration and immersive spaces, OWW is a celebrated destination for families and friends making new memories, sharing stories, and connecting to Wisconsin's past as they get inspired for their own futures. Staff work in historic indoor and outdoor spaces in the beauty of the Kettle Moraine State Forest to bring history to life for tens of thousands of guests each summer.</p> <p>Under the direction of the site Maintenance Coordinator and the supervision of the General Manager, Facilities & Grounds, this individual will perform a wide range of semiskilled tasks including carpentry and grounds keeping, as well as some mechanical and custodial tasks. This individual also performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance to mechanical, plumbing and hvac systems.</p> <p>Duties:</p> <p>Building Maintenance:</p> <ul> <li>Alert the Maintenance Coordinator of any significant maintenance or repair needs.Perform basic carpentry to construct, install, repair, restore, and otherwise maintain wooden structures and components including porches, steps, railings, windows, boardwalks, fences, benches, signage, etc. </li><li>Perform painting tasks on facilities and equipment including fences, railings, picnic tables, etc., and perform limited painting of historic and non-historic building interiors and exteriors. </li><li>Inspect roofs and perform minor roofing repairs. </li><li>Perform minor preventative maintenance and repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, and well pumps. Replace batteries, light bulbs, replace door and gate hardware, and report issues with phone, Wi-Fi or alarm systems. </li><li>Spray and remove wasp nests and bee hives and inspect buildings for insect or animal intrusion and damage. </li><li>Assist delivery drivers and service providers to access secured locations, including pest control, phone and security techs, fire, safety and health inspectors. </li><li>Move equipment, packages and supplies around museum as requested. Assemble and move furniture. </li><li>Inspect, repair and maintain lock and key systems for doors, windows, and fence gates. </li><li>At the end of the season assist in winterizing buildings, equipment and grounds by installing storm windows, covering air conditioners, draining plumbing fixtures and systems, replacing furnace filters, covering signs, and by placing in storage picnic tables, benches, trash receptacles, planters and other outdoor furniture and equipment. </li><li>Monitor buildings, performing scheduled furnace checks during winter. </li><li>Monitor and report inventory levels on all propane and fuel tanks throughout the year. </li></ul> <p>Grounds Maintenance:</p> <ul> <li>Under the lead of the Landscapes and Gardens Coordinator, care for and maintain grass, shrubs and trees using power equipment and hand tools. Mow lawns using power mowers and open fields utilizing tractor-mower. Rake, fertilize, reseed and otherwise perform related tasks necessary to maintain lawn areas. Dispose of brush, leaves, lawn clippings, and other plant and construction debris in designated locations. </li><li>Cut/split firewood to stove use length and diameter, and deliver and stack in safe drying and storage piles. </li><li>Build or repair fences if needed </li><li>Operate farm tractor, front end loader, snowplow and other related equipment. </li><li>Collect attraction garbage and recycling on specified schedule. </li><li>Maintain gravel and paved roads and do repairs as directed. </li><li>Construct, repair and maintain mowed, gravel, brick and stone trails, pathways, walks, steps and patios to provide a safe and secure access for visiting public and employees. </li><li>Remove leaves, branches or other materials from building entry and exit points, sidewalks, and pathways as necessary. Plow roads and spread salt/gravel mix as directed. </li><li>Repair, maintain and monitor irrigation systems, frost free water hydrants and bubblers. </li></ul> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay is $17.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 03-12.</p> <p>Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job.</p> <p>This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This position will be part time and average 40 hours per week during the season.</p> <p>Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.</p> <p>Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.</p> <p>WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Able to lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Be familiar with and able to safely use common carpentry and grounds keeping tools, as well as custodial supplies, equipment and chemicals. </li><li>Must be able to self-start each morning and be able to perform all duties in a swift and thorough manner to make sure the museum is clean, safe and inviting for staff and guests. </li><li>Be able to take direction and follow through with minimum supervision </li><li>Valid Wisconsin driver's license and safe driving record </li><li>Be able to work outdoors in inclement weather and under hot, cold, wet or dusty conditions </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
