<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: ACE Student Leader - SI Leader Role</p> <p>Unit: Student Employment</p> <p>Department: Academic Centers for Enrichment (ACE)</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Academic Support Programs</p> <p>Date: April 14, 2025</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Attend all class meetings (including labs) for the course/section you are supporting </li><li>Plan and facilitate two one-hour study sessions per week based the availability and needs of students enrolled in the course </li><li>Inform direct supervisors of session meeting times and locations </li><li>Track student attendance and upload session plans to Blackboard each week </li><li>Assist students in developing time management, communication, and study skills to promote academic success within the course </li><li>Maintain consistent communication with your direct supervisors </li><li>Assist students in navigating Blackboard and understanding course expectations </li><li>Help students in locating and submitting assignments </li><li>Assist students in posting to a discussion board </li><li>Provide support to students through Blackboard, Zoom, email, or on-campus meetings </li><li>Attend ACE Student Leader training and monthly meetings </li><li>Be aware of and advocate for the other resources and services provided at MCC </li><li>Model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty, and students </li><li>Complete other ACE Department tasks as assigned </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be recommended by a faculty member for the course you want to support and earned a B+ or higher </li><li>Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 </li><li>Attend ACE Student Leader monthly meetings </li><li>Complete the required ACE Student Leader minimum 15-hour training </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter of the course you support </li><li>Demonstrate an ability to work and communicate well with students of various academic levels and diverse backgrounds </li><li>Effectively explain concepts to others and communicate study strategies to ensure academic success within the course </li><li>Complete and submit all SI-related assignments and paperwork in a timely manner </li><li>Exhibit patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environment </li><li>Exhibit good organizational, communication, and basic computing skills </li><li>Work toward International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) SI Leader Certification </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>All ACE Student Leaders are required to engage in ongoing professional development</p> </li><li> <p>Required ACE Training - Wednesday, August 6, 2024, in-person, LC406B</p> </li><li> <p>Required ACE Training - Wednesday, August 13, 2024, ONLINE, 9:30-12pm (paid time)</p> </li><li> <p>Required- Monthly Meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Friday, September 19, 9:00am-11:30am (Lowell Campus, LC406B)</p> </li><li> <p>Friday, October 17, 9:30am-12:00pm (Bedford Campus, AR-Lib)</p> </li><li> <p>Shuttle from Lowell at 9:00am - returning shuttle 12pm</p> </li><li> <p>Friday, November 14, 9:00am-11:30am (Lowell Campus, LC406B)</p> </li><li> <p>Friday, December 12, 9:00am-11:30am (Lowell Campus, LC406B)</p> </li></ul> <p>Limited Spots available!</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour in accordance with the College's Part-Time Wage Schedule</p> <p>Location: Lowell or Bedford campus</p> <p>Hours: 7 to 10 hours per week, schedule to be determined upon hire</p> <p>Expected Start Date: September 2025</p> <p>Application Deadline: This position will remain open until filled</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>To be considered for the SI Role:</p> <ul> <li>Submit your resume and cover letter through Interview Exchange </li><li>Attend one of the ACE Department's group information sessions </li><li>Be recommended by a faculty member </li></ul> <p>Pre-Employment Requirements:</p> <p>The College will not sponsor applicants for work visas.</p> <p>Middlesex Community College only accepts application materials through our online application system.
