<p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Special Education Early Learning Coach provides specialized support and coaching to early childhood educators and related service providers working with young children (3 years old to 2nd Grade) with disabilities. This role focuses on building capacity within early learning settings to implement evidence-based practices, promote inclusive environments, and improve outcomes for young children with diverse needs. The coach will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to ensure high-quality, developmentally appropriate services are delivered.</p> <p>Contract Days: 197</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Special Education</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Coaching and Mentoring: </li><li>Provide on-site coaching and mentoring to early childhood educators and related service providers on effective instructional strategies, assessment practices, and behavior management techniques for young children with disabilities. </li><li>Model and demonstrate evidence-based practices in early childhood special education. </li><li>Facilitate reflective practice and problem-solving with teachers and therapists. </li><li>Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in natural and inclusive settings. </li><li>Student Behavior Support: </li><li>Support administrators, teachers, and support staff in utilizing best practices in planning for and addressing student behavior. </li><li>Support teachers and staff in our Developmental Pre-K, Functional Behavior and Intense Intervention classrooms </li><li>Assist in the development of Functional Behavior Assessments and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans. </li><li>Collaboration and Communication: </li><li>Collaborate with early childhood administrators, teachers, therapists, and families to ensure coordinated and effective services. </li><li>Facilitate team meetings and planning sessions. </li><li>Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding student progress and program implementation. </li><li>Collaborate with community agencies and early intervention providers. </li><li>Serve as a resource for general education early learning staff regarding inclusive practices. </li><li>Assessment and Data Analysis: </li><li>Assist in the collection and analysis of student data to inform instruction and program planning. </li><li>Support the use of assessment tools and progress monitoring systems. </li><li>Help early learning staff utilize data to improve student outcomes. </li><li>Compliance and Documentation: </li><li>Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to early childhood special education (IDEA, Article 7). </li><li>Maintain accurate records and documentation of coaching activities and student progress. </li><li>Service as Public Agency Representative at Case Conferences as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (Master's preferred). </li><li>Valid Indiana teaching license in Early Childhood Special Education or related area. </li><li>Minimum of 3 years of experience working with young children with disabilities in an early childhood setting. </li><li>Strong knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, inclusive education, and evidence-based interventions for young children with disabilities. </li><li>Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills. </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 1 </li><li>Knowledge of Indiana's early learning standards and assessment systems. </li><li>Knowledge of Article 7 and IDEA. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience providing coaching or professional development to early childhood educators. </li><li>Experience with specific disabilities commonly found in early childhood settings. </li><li>Experience working with Indiana's First Steps program. </li><li>Experience with data collection and analysis related to early childhood outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Physical and Mental Efforts:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance </li><li>Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices. </li><li>Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time </li><li>Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another. </li><li>Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students accurately, loudly, or quickly </li><li>Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication. </li><li>Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision. </li><li>Ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time. </li><li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
