<p>Job Description</p> <p>Job Title: Director of Transportation</p> <p>Department: District Support Services</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Support Services</p> <p>Directly Supervises: Transportation department personnel</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Job Summary: Supervise the district transportation program</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <p>Make personnel recommendations to the Superintendent to adequately staff the transportation program</p> <p>Schedule school buses and drivers for all school events</p> <p>Coordinate the purchase, allocation, storage, inventory and care of all transportation equipment of the school district</p> <p>Make all route assignments and schedule all bus drivers</p> <p>Plan and forecast the ongoing operation of the transportation program</p> <p>Develop and implement a plan for inspection and maintenance of transportation equipment</p> <p>Develop and implement bus instructional programs as required by state rules and regulations</p> <p>Work with administrators, teachers, drivers, students, parents, and various public agencies to improve the quality of the school transportation system</p> <p>Investigate accidents, road failures, and other problems associated with the transportation program</p> <p>Oversee random drug testing of bus drivers as required by law</p> <p>Provide required annual training for bus drivers</p> <p>Prepare and maintain required transportation records and reports</p> <p>Prepare bid documents and specifications for the purchase/procurement of all supplies and materials</p> <p>Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse as a Mandated Reporter</p> <p>Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies</p> <p>Other Duties: as assigned by superintendent or designee</p> <p>Qualifications: an Arkansas Class B Commercial Drivers' License w/ School Bus Passenger Endorsement is required; air brakes endorsement is required</p> <p>Knowledge and Skills Required: experience in school transportation is preferred; an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and the programs associated with the position</p> <p>Education: high school diploma or GED required; college or technical school degree preferred</p> <p>Other Expectations: Successful completion of pre-employment background checks; Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, staff, and the general public; able to carry on normal conversation and communicate by portable radio</p>
