<p>Overview:</p> <p>Our Special Educator will work closely with educators, outside providers and Leadership Team to build, maintain, and oversee a positive, game-changing education program for all special education students in addition to being the Teacher of Record for our special education scholars. Our Special Educator will ensure ACE is in 100% compliance with state and federal special education law and provide small group and push-in support so that 100% of scholars on their caseload reach their personal yearly goals.</p> <p>This work will be intellectually and professionally exhausting. By joining our team, you become part of something that is worthy, desperately needed, and surely possible for hundreds of students in Indianapolis.</p> <p>Background on the Organizations:</p> <p>ACE Prep, currently serving grades K-6 in the Greater Broad Ripple area, was founded in 2015. ACE Prep has remained steadfast in its belief that every child deserves an excellent education, no matter their zip code. ACE PREP boasts a 90% IREAD pass rate in SY24 and historically outperforms the district on ILEARN in both reading and math while serving a student population of 85% low-income students.</p> <p>In the summer of 2025, Circle City Prep and ACE Prep, two high-performing, single-site charter schools in Indianapolis, dedicated to providing a rigorous, college-preparatory education for all students, are merging to provide expanded opportunities to scholars and families in Broad Ripple.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>As a Special Educator, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Create and execute engaging lessons that support all special needs Scholars such that they consistently meet and exceed their IEP goals. </li><li>Coordinate with teachers and other special education team members in serving students with special needs. </li><li>Execute Title I, MTSS, and IEP supports, from modifications to accommodations, from push-in to pull-out interventions. </li><li>Lead move-in conferences, annual IEP meetings, and evaluation conferences. </li><li>Complete and send home quarterly progress monitoring documentation. </li><li>Manage relationships with outside partners and organizations (ex. those providing PT/OT/Speech services) to provide accommodations and supports aligned to student individual needs and IEPs. </li><li>Ensure ACE meets 100% of compliance metrics annually (move-in conferences, case conferences, evaluation timelines, and IEP creations, etc.). </li><li>Build strong relationships with parents, students and colleagues, driving investment in school culture and academics through consistent, clear communication. </li><li>Implement interventions for students in order to increase learning time and lead to mastery of grade-level content. </li><li>Be the school's point person relating to all things special education. </li></ul> <p>Additional duties:</p> <ul> <li>Lead a safe, joyful lunch/recess. </li><li>Provide coverage in classrooms as needed (part or full days). </li><li>Participate in regular practice-based professional development and real-time coaching. </li><li>Participate in annual two-week Summer Experience (all staff) and three-days of New Hire Onboarding (new staff only). </li><li>Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (ex. family nights, student performances, field trips, family conferences, Back-to-School Nights, etc.). </li><li>Provide appropriate supervision of students during class, breaks, meals, enrichment, arrival/dismissal, and transitions to maintain an optimal work environment and to ensure students' safety and well-being. </li><li>Commit to teach an extended daily schedule: 7:10am - 4:15pm </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>As a Special Educator, you must:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred. </li><li>Minimum of one-year special education teaching experience in an urban public school, preferred </li><li>Be a person who meets challenges with optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset. </li><li>Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required.
