<p>This is an opportunity for engineering students to gain real-world experience while working at a world-class electrical motor manufacturer. Support design, development, and testing of various brushed and brushless DC motors, stepper motor-based linear actuators, drives, and complete custom automation sub-systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving challenging technical problems by applying engineering principles learned in the classroom, and by collaborating with experienced engineers, technicians, and various departments, and will have a desire to grow their 3D CAD and simulation capabilities.</p> <p>What you will do:</p> <ul> <li>Work with engineers to design, test, document, and validate new products </li><li>Build, document, and validate the electro-mechanical performance of motors, drives, and circuitry </li><li>Alleviate design issues and/or improve designs through the engineering change procedure </li><li>Execute tests, analyze data, and generate technical reports to inform management </li><li>Create CAD models, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks </li><li>Learn to run electromagnetic, thermal, and/or stress simulations in ANSYS </li><li>Design test and assembly fixtures to aid manufacturing of product </li></ul> <p>What we are looking for:</p> <p>REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent </li><li>Sophomore or higher-level standing </li><li>Coursework or experience related to mechanical engineering principles </li><li>Proficiency using Microsoft Office </li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Ability to organize thoughts, files, and data well </li><li>Team player with a highly proactive and positive attitude with the ability to work individually or in a team as needed </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge or interest in electrical motors and/or rotating equipment </li><li>Ability to interpret drawings and schematics </li><li>Experience working in a lab or shop environment </li><li>Hands-on capability with typical electrical test and measurement equipment </li><li>Familiar with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analyses </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the lab can occasionally require hearing protection.
