<p>Job Summary</p> <p>We are seeking a Tool Room Grinder to join our team. As a Tool Room Grinder, you will be responsible for operating a selection of manual tool and cutter grinding equipment for a variety of our machining applications. This is a skilled role. The role also requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure quality production and reliability in attendance to ensure our on-time delivery to our customers stays at a world class level.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Follow established work instructions and company procedures to ensure safe, quality production.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to set up and run tool and cutter grinders such as: surface grinders, Pratt & Whitney R-6, Cincinatti Monoset, Hybco form relief grinder, #2 Tool and Cutter Grinder, Sterling drill grinder, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of the grades, shapes, and styles of grinding wheels.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to make basic formed grinding wheels using radius and angle diamond wheel dresser and crush form wheel dresser</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to make step drills, step reamers, and flat form tools</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding the use of multiple fixtures and attachments associated with tool grinding and sharpening</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to sharpen a complex geometry cutting tools including drills, taps, reamers, step-drills, circular and dovetail form tools</p> </li><li> <p>Fluency in shop math and the ability to calculate angles, clearances, radial and axial relief using trigonometry mathematics</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for routine machinery maintenance and running visual tests on broken or worn parts while keeping inventory of machine replacement parts.</p> </li><li> <p>Fluent and well versed in blueprint interpretation and title block GD&T</p> </li><li> <p>Robust knowledge in the use of instruments such as calipers, gauges, indicators, micrometers, optical comparators, and other hand tools related to the occupation.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate to other departments status and updates of the machining group.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow safety procedures and guidelines in the assembly process.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a clean and organized work environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Leads all cross training and new hire training activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Indirect through training new associates</p> <p>Education and Experience Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Certificate in machine shop technology or technology/machinist - preferred associate degree</p> </li><li> <p>3-4 years of experience in a tool making environment beyond post-secondary or trade school education</p> </li><li> <p>Recognized apprenticeship may be required</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Strong analytical, communication and computer skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of mathematics</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communicator and team player</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently and high attention to detail.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
