<p>SUNY Adirondack is a teaching- and learning-centered community college, which fosters a diverse and equitable learning environment for students of all ages, backgrounds, goals, and learning styles. A member of the State University of New York, located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, one hour north of Albany and thirty minutes from Saratoga Springs. Our size is intimate, with only 4,000 full and part-time students, yet we offer more than 30 unique academic programs that prepare students for both work and transfer to four-year schools. A four-year degree is attainable on campus through our SUNY Plattsburgh extension center. While many of our students are first generation college educated and from rural areas in Upstate New York, we are excited by the influx of students from downstate and out of state who can now live in our new 400-bed residence hall. </p> <p>SUNY Adirondack Athletics values high energy, creativity, and a strong commitment to student engagement. We are seeking coaches who will have an impact on student success, and will enhance a culture of hard work, dedication, resilience, and respect in our Athletic Department.</p> <p>We strongly encourage applications from minorities and other underrepresented groups. A demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student population and to the values of inclusion, engagement, and equity is imperative. </p> <p>The Head Coach is responsible for operating a program for student-athletes which includes recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and training athletes who are highly skilled in their sport while pursuing the department's goals of developing individuals who are athletically, academically, and personally successful.</p> <ul> <li>Successfully implementing a recruiting/retention plan for in and out of state students </li><li>Executing practice and training plan </li><li>Monitor and Support student-athlete success, academically and athletically </li><li>Develop Community service and fundraising plan </li><li>Manage budget which includes travel requests </li><li>Scheduling athletic contests and arranging transportation, in conjunction with Athletic Director </li><li>Maintaining the program in accordance with department, College, and NJCAA rules and regulations </li><li>Supervision of assistant coaches, team managers and student workers. </li><li>Ability to work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings and weekends as needed. </li><li>Must have excellent Communication Skills, Leadership Skills, Organizational, Management and Teamwork Skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to build a culture of respect, discipline and ethical standards </li><li>Knowledge of NJCAA and college rules, policies and regulations along with an understanding of Higher Education </li><li>Willingness to work on a limited budget </li><li>Ability to be proactive and multitask while demonstrating strong attention to details </li><li>Must possess valid driver's license </li><li>Must have a willingness and desire to work with people of diverse backgrounds </li></ul> <p>Associates Degree in appropriate field required, Bachelor's Degree preferred</p> <p>Years of Experience</p> <p>2-4 years of playing and/or previous head coaching experience with a focus on recruiting at the college level</p> <p>Compensation</p> <p>The salary for this position is $15,000</p> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Requirements</p> <p>Office, Campus environment.
