<p>The Mechanical Engineering Co-op will work directly as a member of our product development team, applying their mechanical expertise to implement truly novel solutions to solve customer challenges. They will work closely with the other engineering disciplines to ensure a cohesive system design. Responsibilities will focus on testing, introducing new products into production, and supporting systems fielded at customer sites.</p> <p>This role will be onsite at the Bedford, MA office. This position will run from approximately June-December 2025 (dates flexible).</p> <p>Functions</p> <ul> <li>Design parts and assemblies according to system/sub-system requirements. </li><li>Transform tested conceptual solutions into robust product designs in coordination with engineering, operations, the customer and contract manufacturers </li><li>Design and release components and systems using SolidWorks </li><li>Develop production and support documentation including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions. </li><li>Work with our suppliers, machinists, contract manufacturers, and shippers to guarantee that the right electromechanical system is assembled and functional in the right place at the right time. </li><li>Perform test and verification of prototype systems. </li><li>Bring prototype solutions to life with rapid prototyping tools including 3D printer, laser cutter, mill, etc. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Actively pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field </li><li>Experience with Solidworks (basic principles of design, sheet metal, FEA, etc.) </li><li>Experience prototyping and using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers, mills, lathes, etc. </li><li>Good written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Must be curious, eager, open to learning, and independent </li><li>Ability to spec motors, sensors, and off-the-shelf parts </li><li>Strong grasp of mechanical systems and mechanisms </li></ul> <p>DFM experience within sheet metal, weldments, machined</p> <p>COOP-2501CM</p>
