<p>POSITION TITLE: Seasonal Outdoor Parks Worker</p> <p>DIVISION: Parks and Natural Resources</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Parks Coordinator</p> <p>FLSA STATUS: Part-time, Non-exempt, Starting at $14.00 per hour</p> <p>Purpose of Position:</p> <p>The purpose of this part-time, seasonal position is to perform custodial functions and light maintenance of multiple parks and greenways. This position reports to the Parks Coordinator for daily tasks and assignments. This position is seasonal, part-time averaging 28-40 hours per week with flexible days and times.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <p>The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR) in maintaining clean and beautiful parks and greenways</p> </li><li> <p>Perform routine cleaning and restocking of restroom facilities</p> </li><li> <p>Including spraying cleaners, scrubbing, and wiping down fixtures, sweeping, mopping, eliminating nests, spider webs and dust</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor for proper function of lights, locks, doors, sinks and toilets</p> </li><li> <p>Empty, restock, and clean trash cans, recycling cans, and pet waste stations</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor recreational areas including picnic shelters, trails, parking lots, and playgrounds for various waste and debris</p> </li><li> <p>Remove invasive or undesirable vegetation from managed areas</p> </li><li> <p>Use blowers or brooms to remove vegetation and debris from various surfaces</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor for hazards such as uneven surfaces, storm damage, or unforeseen circumstances</p> </li><li> <p>Report faulty equipment, damaged recreational assets, or safety concerns</p> </li><li> <p>Assist and support CCPR staff with special events, volunteer, and natural resource program activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all safety measures to ensure the safety of employees, volunteers, and the public</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Reliable and organized, on time and accurate with daily reporting and daily schedules. </li><li>Ability to interact and communicate in a positive, professional manner with team and public. </li><li>Ability to operate a motor vehicle to conduct work activities. </li><li>Ability to use technology tools such as tablets and smart devices. </li><li>Ability to exert heavy physical effort necessary to perform certain park maintenance tasks, involving some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials weighing 20-90 pounds. </li><li>Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, traffic hazards, dead animals, toxic agents, cleaning agents, aerosols, liquids, disease, or pathogenic substances. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years old. </li><li>High school diploma or GED. </li><li>One (1) year related experience involving grounds maintenance, custodial work, building maintenance, or manual labor preferred. </li><li>Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. </li><li>Driving is an essential function of this position and individual must possess and maintain a valid Indiana driver's license and be insurable. </li></ul> <p>Must Complete Prior to Starting with Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation</p> <ul> <li>Must pass a background check that encompasses national, state, and local searches, throughout employment. </li></ul> <p>The Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
