Projects can range from small scale to hundreds of miles in length traversing multiple states. Understand the full range of issues related to the successful siting and routing of a transmission project and will be accountable for making sound recommendations and decisions. Areas of required expertise include environmental (cultural, natural and visual resource assessment), utility corridor siting (utility regulatory requirements, stakeholder interaction, and permitting requirements) and project management.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Work Designation -- hybrid. On June 1, 2025, this opportunity may transition to onsite when not traveling in the field/AEP project/work sites.</p> <p>Location -- New Albany, OH</p> <p>Based on education, experience and interview, this opportunity will be filled commensurately at either title. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated at the lower grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade.</p> <p>Transmission Line Siting Specialist (mid-level) (grade 6)</p> <p>Transmission Line Siting Specialist (Associate) (entry-level) (grade 5) = bachelor's degree + (0-2) years of experience</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>This role is responsible for coordinating the siting studies for multi-million dollar electric transmission line and substation projects. Areas of required expertise include environmental (cultural, natural and visual resource assessment), utility corridor siting (utility regulatory requirements, stakeholder interaction, and permitting requirements) and project management.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that transmission siting activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices and standards of the Company and regulations and procedures as required by federal, state or local regulatory agencies. </li><li>Organize the siting studies and proposed route selection activities to meet in-service dates and ensure compliance. </li><li>Oversee the oversight of outsourcing related to siting and regulatory approvals of transmission lines and substations. </li><li>Work interdependently with a multidisciplinary project team to identify buildable, cost effective routes and facilities which minimize environmental impacts. </li><li>Serve as liaison with AEP Environmental Services, Outreach, Engineering, Project Management and ROW on aspects of the projects. </li><li>Determine siting/environmental risks, tasks, scopes, and cost estimates. </li><li>Assist in and prepare environmental assessments and siting studies for transmission facility projects. </li><li>Coordinate regulatory and local zoning applications (writing, exhibits, testimony, interrogatories, schedule, etc.) </li><li>Develop and monitor schedules to complete siting tasks and manage identified risks. </li><li>Participate in stakeholder meetings and public workshops. </li><li>Assist in preparing testimony and testify before federal, state and local agencies concerning transmission routing and substation siting. </li><li>Organize and facilitate project meetings related to siting activities. </li><li>Assist in evaluating the impact of proposed legislation and regulations on transmission projects and provide input to the development process. </li><li>Build networks that extend through AEP and other companies, and regulatory agencies. </li><li>Improve standardization and process development. </li><li>Make presentations to civic groups, property owners, regulatory agencies, and AEP employees. </li><li>Perform other duties as requested or assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Transmission Line Siting Spec Assc( Grade 5)</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Zero to two (0 -2) years total industry related experience. Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office computer applications is desired. Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication and time management skills. The ability to handle multiple projects and assignments is critical.</p> <ul> <li>Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to rent a vehicle, and the ability to drive 3 - 6 hours at time to attend site visits, meet with landowners, or participate in open houses and stakeholder meetings. </li></ul> <p>Transmission Line Siting Spec ( Grade 6)</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, or related field.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>A minimum of two to three years' (2-3 ) experience working as a Siting Specialist or related field. Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office computer applications is desired. Excellent written, organizational, presentation, oral communication and time management skills. The ability to handle multiple projects and assignments is critical.</p> <ul> <li>Must have a valid driver's license, the ability to rent a vehicle, and the ability to drive 3 - 6 hours at time to attend site visits, meet with landowners, or participate in open houses and stakeholder meetings. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules. </li><li>Some overnight travel to facilities and projects (field work) is required periodically. </li><li>Position requires some travel and exposure to situations which require knowledge, understanding, and adherence to applicable safety procedures. </li><li>Approximately 10 to 20% of travel time associated with this position. </li><li>Position is hybrid (in the office on M, T, W). </li></ul> <p>INITIAL POSITION / BASE SALARY FUNDING: approximately ($62,000 - $90,000/year) spanning this salary grade/title range.
