<p>Position Type: Highly Qualified Paraprofessional for Special Education</p> <p>Location: Greenbrier School District (Specific Building to Be Determined)</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; and </li><li>Completed at least 60 hours of college credit; or </li><li>Passed the Praxis Parapro Assessment </li></ul> <p>Job Description</p> <ul> <li>Assist students within a special education classroom setting </li><li>Implement instructional activities with students as directed by the teacher and/or building principal. </li><li>Assume responsibility for being prepared to perform instructional duties as prescribed by the teacher. </li><li>Implement behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher/supervisor, and treat all students with dignity and respect. </li><li>Assist with the physical management, etc. Lifting may be required with some students. </li><li>Assist with the maintenance of the classroom. </li><li>Assist with duties including but not limited to lunchroom, recess, bus, etc. </li><li>Participate in training, staffing, and meetings as directed by the building principal and Administration. </li><li>Adhere to confidentiality policies and practices for students under IDEA as outlined by the teacher. </li><li>Follow any Greenbrier School Board Policy and/or practice. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by administration, building principal, and/or the supervising teacher. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently </li><li>Encouraging to students and patient when reviewing materials </li><li>Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills </li><li>Comfortable in a team-player role </li><li>Creative and innovative thinker and planner </li><li>Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office, Google apps </li><li>Strict adherence to school philosophy, standards, and goals. </li><li>Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis. </li><li>Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily. </li><li>Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily. </li><li>Works as a team member on building level committees. </li><li>Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations. </li><li>Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, bullying,zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students. </li><li>Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Contact Information:</p> <p>Name - Kelli Martin</p> <p>Title - Deputy Superintendent</p> <p>Phone - 501.679.4808</p> <p>Email - martink@greenbrierschools.org</p> <p>Salary Range/Schedule: http://greenbrierschools.org/salaries</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 191-day contract</p>
