Join us in making a difference and being part of a community that values each individual's growth and achievements.</p> <p>Department Specific Summary:</p> <p>The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time This role involves maintaining payroll records, handling wage garnishments, reconciling payroll reports, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The Payroll Specialist works closely with the Human Resources and Finance departments to support university operations and ensure confidentiality and data integrity in all payroll processes</p> <p>Department Specific Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Accurately process payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring timely and compliant payments to all employees. Coordinates with Human Resources for proper benefit and deduction set-up, verifies and processes unused vacation and sick leave payouts for retiring and terminating employees. </li><li>Other duties include but are not limited to paper timesheet entry, Payroll Expense Distribution System (PEDs) corrections, and monthly PEDs balancing. Process all of the tax payments and third party payments. </li><li>Assist with Glacier tax processes during peak periods to ensure accurate tax treatment for non-resident employees and compliance with international tax regulations </li><li>Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll regulations, and prepare required tax filings and year-end documents. Helps to assure the correct tax processing of employee fringe benefits and application of appropriate withholding and reporting procedures. </li><li>Reconcile payroll accounts, support internal/external audits, and generate payroll reports for finance and management. Respond to payroll-related inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and provide guidance on pay, taxes, and deductions. </li><li>Other Payroll duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>General Job Summary:</p> <p>Responsible for all payroll processing activities, including regular and overtime pay processing, employee and employer contributions/withholdings, vacation and sick time accruals, and payroll taxes.</p> <p>General Job Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Guides and assists customers with highly complex questions, paperwork, and requirements, as they relate to financial and business activities such as billing, payment deadlines, refunds, etc. Advises lower level employees on complex customer inquiries, requiring advanced knowledge of department policies. </li><li>Often directs work, trains, and/or supervises student employees. </li><li>Ensures requisitions are processed in a timely manner and are properly recorded. Obtains necessary documentation for customers related to contracts. </li><li>Provides complex financial support to departments and areas within the University. </li><li>Records and tracks expenses and revenue for department or area. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge of standard finance and business practices, policies, procedures, tools, and/or equipment in a field of specialization typically obtained by a high school degree or GED or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
