<p>PGY1 Resident Pharmacist</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>This posting is for a post-match American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency position. Applicants do not need to have participated in the NMS matching process to be considered for this position. Both 2025 graduates and non-traditional candidates will be considered for this position.</p> <p>Through successful completion of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Post-Graduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency program the resident pharmacist will build on their Doctor of Pharmacy education and learning outcomes with the goal of developing into a clinical pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. This position fulfills all accreditation requirements for PGY1 residencies as defined by ASHP. The resident pharmacist will be licensed to practice as a pharmacist by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy. However, the resident pharmacist will also have additional and unique duties above and beyond those of a staff pharmacist at Licking Memorial Hospital in order to achieve the accreditation requirements set forth by ASHP and fulfill the resident pharmacist's educational needs.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>As required by ASHP, the resident pharmacist will meet the following learning objectives through various learning experiences and practical staffing applications:</p> <ul> <li>In collaboration with the health care team, provide safe and effective patient care to a diverse range of patients, including those with multiple co-morbidities, high-risk medication regimens, and multiple medications following a consistent patient care process. </li><li>Ensure continuity of care during patient transitions between care settings. </li><li>Prepare, dispense, and manage medications to support safe and effective drug therapy for patients. </li><li>Demonstrate ability to manage formulary and medication-use processes, as applicable to the organization. </li><li>Demonstrate ability to evaluate and investigate practice, review data, and assimilate scientific evidence to improve patient care and/or the medication-use system. </li><li>Demonstrate leadership skills. </li><li>Demonstrate management skills. </li><li>Provide effective medication and practice-related education to patients, caregivers, health care professionals, students, and the public (individuals and groups). </li><li>Effectively employ appropriate preceptor roles when engaged in teaching students, pharmacy technicians, or fellow health care professionals. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Pharmacy degree. </li><li>Ability for licensure as a Pharmacist in the State of Ohio. </li><li>Ability to successfully complete the required curriculum of the Licking Memorial Hospital PGY1 Pharmacy Residency within 12 months (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2024). </li></ul> <p>This posting is for a 12 month commitment (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026) to the PGY1 pharmacy residency program, as detailed in the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Manual.
