<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Rehabilitation Office Specialist is the first point of contact. This position greets patients, completes check-in/check-out process; patient registration, appointment scheduling and medical records functions. Provides good customer service to our patients and works well as part of a team.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities</p> <p>Greets patients and completes check-in/check-out process; answers patients' general questions.</p> <p>Completes patient registration; ensures that proper patient forms are complete, current and entered into the computer. Verifies patients' insurance coverage for OT/PT services. Obtains and processes authorizations.</p> <p>Builds cases within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for insurance and authorization tracking; tracks signatures of external referrals for PT/OT through EMR per insurance requirements; monitors desk top within EMR for CCOC physician signatures on evaluations; tracks cancels and no shows within the EMR and visit record sheet.</p> <p>Reviews charts when discharged and assures accurate completion of necessary requirements. Complies with Medicare and Joint Commission (JC) in documentation; works with Managed Care Organization and Workers' Compensation Department.</p> <p>Coordinates with referring physician's staff and obtains DME script; Verifies DME benefits; Educates patient on DME benefits and patient responsibility; Collects monies as appropriate; Posts payment in Cerner; Scans DME paperwork into a file for reconciliation. Collects DME surveys.</p> <p>Answers telephone calls promptly to service callers' needs in adequate time. Coordinates phone conversations with clinical staff and external parties as needed; Maintains filing system; orders and maintains office supplies; provides back up coverage for all satellites.</p> <p>Must be able to handle high patient volume.</p> <p>All other duties not specifically assigned.</p> <p>Position Requirements</p> <p>Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.</p> <p>Experience: Prior front desk experience in a medical office preferred.</p> <p>Technical Skills: Excellent computer skills and knowledge of office equipment required. Experience with Microsoft office products. (Word, Excel and Outlook).</p> <p>Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: N/A</p> <p>Schedule: Variable; including evenings. Travel to other locations as needed</p> <p>Status: Part-Time - 20 hours/week</p>
