<p>The Adult Day Care Center on our Manhattan campus is seeking a full time Therapeutic Recreation Therapist to join our team! This position will be part-time, 3 days a week , 18 to 20 hour per week . The work schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11:30 am to 6:00 pm, with alternating Saturdays, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Under the supervision the Program Director, the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will plan, facilitate and lead goal oriented activities and completes required documentation and care plans, in a manner that is consistent with The New Jewish Home mission, vision and values.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Assists in planning recreational activities for frail, memory challenged and visually impaired clients. </li><li>Handles and completes clients' therapeutic recreation programs and ensures completion of progress notes for clients every 180 days . </li><li>Prepares the comprehensive care plans for assigned clients , attends scheduled meetings and provides updates for changes in their status, behavior and health. </li><li>Prepares materials for recreation programs , incorporating client's needs and interest in the process. </li><li>Requests supply orders for recreation program as needed. </li><li>Prepares and conducts recreational activities in the area of specialty and encourages participation in the activity. </li><li>Clean up supplies and equipment after each activity. </li><li>Work with and/or supervise volunteers assigned to his/her work area. </li><li>Facilitates access and participation in activities of clients with special needs. </li><li>Maintains statistics and attendance information/records. </li><li>Communicates with other staff, families and clients about the recreation program, when needed. </li><li>Assists in large group recreation activities. </li><li>Attends workshops, seminars, in-service education programs and department meetings. </li><li>Prepares and post a large monthly recreation calendar, with information coming from the Recreation Coordinator. </li><li>Performs other tasks as maybe assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>College degree preferably in Therapeutic Recreation </li><li>With 2 years experience in Therapeutic Recreation </li></ul> <p>Age Related Skills and Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan, conduct and conduct therapeutic recreation programs , in accordance with age appropriate activities of the older adult population. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demand:</p> <ul> <li>Movement involved activities such as but not limited to exercise, dancing and bowling. </li><li>Transporting supplies, lifting, pushing and re-arranging tables and chairs. </li><li>Pushing wheelchairs and assisting transfers. </li></ul>
