<p>POSITION TITLE: SECONDARY DRAMA TEACHER</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Arkansas Teaching Certification in Drama/Speech or Approval from ADE.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal</p> <p>JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to good oral communication; to develop standards for critical judgment of written and oral communication transmitted by mass media; to discover and develop special talents of pupils in the field of drama and theatre.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Hold individual or group combined rehearsals and practices outside the regular school hours. </li><li>Plan and supervise practices that are consistent with the following areas of performance: full length plays and readers theater, one act plays, oral interpretation of poetry and oral interpretation of press, duet acting, solo acting, radio and television performance, humorous interpretation, dramatic interpretation, and any others not mentioned here by necessary for participation in festivals, tournaments, workshops and performance related activities. </li><li>Direct a minimum of one evening program for the community each semester which will consist of any of the following choices: a full length play or musical, a one act play, a night of readers theater, and any performance related activity which can be performed before an assembly consisting of the community outside the school community. </li><li>Plan and direct a minimum of one full length play or musical, a one act play, one readers theater production. </li><li>Encourage students to attend at least two state approved festivals or tournaments. </li><li>Prepare one activity for area middle schools and elementary schools. Activities might include plays or musicals, storytelling, Christmas or Halloween Plays, melodramas, readers theaters, children plays, puppet shows, etc. </li><li>Provide speakers and performers for community groups when requested. </li><li>Join and serve on committees of the Arkansas Speech Communication Association. </li><li>Supervise and/or participate in judging groups at all outside school activities including tournaments and festivals. </li><li>The following is an estimated MINIMUM total of hours outside the regular school day that will be required to do an adequate job. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>Salary Range: Teacher Salary</p> <p>Length of Contract: 190 days per contract year</p> <p>Eligible for Benefits: YES</p> <p>EVALUATION:</p> <p>Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.</p> <p>PCSSD does not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, race, color, national origin, or gender in any service, program, or activity (including in admission, access, treatment, employment, or vocational opportunities).</p>
