<p>Pharmacist</p> <p>Pharmacy</p> <p>The Pharmacist interprets, processes and dispenses medication pursuant to a written order/prescription issued by a qualified prescriber in accordance with all pertinent laws, rules and/or regulations. He/she will maintain and ensure the provision of quality pharmaceutical services to the Hospital.</p> <p>The Pharmacist will:</p> <ul> <li>Review each medication order for accuracy, drug allergies/interactions and entering into the computer based patient profile </li><li>Dispense medication accurately and in a timely fashion ensuring proper labeling </li><li>Ensure that all large and small volume parenterals, parenteral nutrition solutions, specialized dilutions, chemotherapeutic agents and piggybacks are prepared using aseptic technique in an acceptable environment. </li><li>Ensure that unit dose medication cassettes are properly prepared for daily exchange </li><li>Dispense controlled substances and maintaining appropriate records </li><li>Provide accurate and timely drug information as requested by Physicians, Nurses and peers </li><li>Supervise and monitor all Pharmacy Technicians, volunteers and inventory personnel in functions related to the preparation of medication </li><li>Maintain professional proficiency and competency by earning required Continuing Education credits; participates in seminars, lectures, course work, etc., as required </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Requires a license to practice pharmacy in the State of New Jersey. </li><li>Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy recognized by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. </li><li>Requires a working knowledge and familiarity with contemporary institutional pharmacy services such as unit dose drug distribution, sterile compounding techniques, etc. </li><li>This level of competency is usually achieved with two (2) to three (3) years of related or similar experience which may be achieved through a residency program. </li><li>Requires a continuing maintenance of competency as evidenced by ability to monitor and review drug regimens, make appropriate recommendations when indicated, follow-up on clinical parameters, etc. </li><li>Requires the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to specialty patient populations including: pediatrics, neonates and geriatrics. </li><li>Ability to establish, develop and maintain professionally effective relationships with hospital administrators, physicians, peers and fellow hospital employees. </li></ul> <p>Grade 132</p>
