<p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>The Welding Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality welding instruction to high school students. This position involves teaching students welding techniques, safety procedures, blueprint reading, metal fabrication, and industry standards. The instructor will develop lesson plans, provide hands-on training, and prepare students for certifications and careers in welding or related trades.</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <p>9.50-month contract (195 days), plus benefit package. Salary Schedule: Teacher's Salary Schedule. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on education and experience. FLSA: EXEMPT.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Associate's degree preferred in a related field and/or 4 or more years of professional experience and industry-recognized certification in Welding.</p> </li><li> <p>Be eligible and willing to obtain a Technical Permit from the Arkansas Department of Career Education by obtaining NCCER and NOCTI certifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong technical knowledge of welding techniques and fabrication. Ability to engage and motivate high school students in a hands-on learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. and a desire to expose students to career opportunities in the field.</p> </li></ol> <p>Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Director & Coordinator-Metropolitan Career Technical Center</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate a project-based classroom as "lead learner" while creating and maintaining a professional relationship with students. </li><li>Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with industry standards and educational requirements. </li><li>Assess student performance through practical tests, written exams, and project evaluations. Adhere to district policies and procedures for grading. </li><li>Provide instruction on blueprint reading, fabrication, cutting, and metalworking techniques. </li><li>Incorporate math, science, and technical reading skills related to welding and manufacturing. </li><li>Ensure all students adhere to welding safety protocols and proper use of PPE. </li><li>Maintain and oversee the safe operation of welding booths, tools, and machinery. </li><li>Conduct regular equipment maintenance and inspections. </li><li>Maintain a structured and disciplined learning environment. </li><li>Foster industry partnerships to provide students with internships, job shadowing, or apprenticeship opportunities. </li><li>Job performance will be evaluated using the Teacher Excellence and Support System adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education and Little Rock School District </li><li>Planning and Preparation </li><li>Classroom Environment </li><li>Instruction </li><li>Professional Responsibilities </li></ul> <p>NOTE: Performs other related essential and/or secondary duties as assigned.</p> <p>Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.</p>
