<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Teach Criminal Justice courses to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials, recommend/design new programs; maintain office hours, participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in college and community activity; promote the mission of the college; develop and implement retention strategies; assist in graduation placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student orientation and registration; serve on college committees; promote institutional goals; assist the department head with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on any campus or assigned site and may be days, nights, weekends, and distance learning or a combination.</p> <ul> <li>Teaching Performance - the ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process. </li><li>Instructional Development - the development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials. </li><li>Instructional management - the effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports. </li><li>Student Advisement - the participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development. </li><li>Professional Development - the participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position. </li><li>College and/or Community Service - the participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>A Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a Master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching Criminal Justice in various formats to adults as well as dual enrollment students. </li><li>PhD preferred. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Spartanburg Community College is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer for all qualified persons regardless of race, color, sex, - including the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, national origin, age, religion, or disability.</p>
