Posting Number 20166728S Job Description</p> <p>Under general direction of a lead worker or supervision by departmental administrator or Building Services Manager, performs duties to provide care, cleaning & maintenance of building, furniture & fixtures.</p> <ul> <li>Adheres to all OSHA, CDC and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; </li><li>Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces; </li><li>Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets; </li><li>Washes walls; cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed*; </li><li>Cleans glass and mirrors; </li><li>Cleans and empties trash receptacles; </li><li>May remove and hang drapes; </li><li>Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas; </li><li>Reports need for equipment repair; </li><li>Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property; </li><li>Checks in supplies; stocks supply areas; </li><li>May assist in washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots & pans; </li><li>Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains; </li><li>Operates dish machine/pot washer to clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, pans, etc. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li><li>Applies to Facilities Management and Safety Staff. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in sanitation and safety areas of dining, residential, academic and administrative units; </li><li>Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form; </li><li>Ability to work independently or with others; </li><li>Demonstrate willingness to work with diverse populations; </li><li>Ability to read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure; </li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; </li><li>Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; </li><li>Ability to demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment; </li><li>Ability to mix cleaning compounds and follow safety procedures; </li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; </li><li>Ability to effectively use a 15 foot ladder; </li><li>An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>Training & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>May require valid driver's license; </li><li>Completion of a test may be required. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>May climb ladders; </li><li>May be exposed to extreme temperatures; </li><li>May be exposed to dirt, grease, odors, cramped conditions, extreme hot or cold temperatures, heights, and electrical hazards; </li><li>May be exposed to dangerous machinery </li><li>During Level 2 working conditions will be required to wear designated PPE up to and including full body suit, appropriate mask, etc.* </li><li>Applies to Facilities Management and Safety Staff. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of custodial safety practices </li><li>Skill in operation of cleaning equipment (electric scrubbers, buffers & vacuum cleaners) </li><li>Knowledge of all applicable OSHA and/or Ohio University safety guidelines and procedures </li></ul> <p>Developed after employment.</p> <p>Department Custodial Services Pay Rate</p> <p>Pay Range |02|: $15.34 - $21.29</p> <p>Job Open Date 04/22/2025 Posting Close Date</p> <p>4/29/2025</p> <p>Job Category Classified AFSCME 1699 Bargaining Unit appointment Months 12 month Planning Unit Vice President for Finance & Administration Work Schedule</p> <p>PN100267 & PN187512</p> <p>Work Days: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Work Hours: 4:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.</p> <p>Campus Athens Expected hours worked per week 40 hours per week Expected duration of assignment Indefinite Applicants may contact this person if they have questions about this position.
