Reporting to the Dean of Liberal Arts, this position requires teaching 15 credit-hours per semester in College Composition, Literature, and/or Writing courses. Other responsibilities include course development and assessment, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaborations. We encourage applications from candidates committed to the instruction and support of a diverse student population and from those who will contribute to an inclusive culture and ethos on campus.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Teach a full-time course load in English; College Composition, Literature, and/or Writing classes; Teach the depth and scope of course content using engaging classroom methods to support students' mastery of course Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs); Contribute to on-campus and online course delivery, utilizing Brightspace, the college's online learning management system, and integrating technology in the classroom where applicable; Be available to meet with students during regularly scheduled office hours; Actively contribute to the academic division and college through assessment, committee, and service activities including, but not limited to, retention, recruitment, and program review; Maintain currency in academic and teaching disciplines, by cultivating teaching excellence and participation in professional development activities; Model lifelong learning, focus on consistent improvement of instructional practice (engage as a reflective practitioner), and actively engage in independent and college-offered professional development to increase knowledge in one's content area and teaching methods; Commitment to community college student access and success; Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.</p> <p>Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Master's Degree in English from an accredited institution. Minimum 1 year, of post-secondary teaching experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Prior teaching experience in college composition, literature, and writing.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Online teaching experience. Experience in teaching at the community college level. Experience teaching English Language Learners (ELL).
