<p>Passaic County Community College (PCCC) is seeking a GEAR UP/College Bound Advisor position that will report to the Assistant Director of the GEAR UP/College Bound program and is primarily responsible for providing college-going guidance and career exposure to students and families in high school and first year experience (FYE).</p> <p>This is a full-time, grand-funded administrative position.</p> <p>Example of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Advise students in the areas of academics, high school preparation, and college and career exposure, standardized testing career/life planning, and financial aid in individual and/or group setting. </li><li>Assist in the planning, development and coordination of scheduled activities for student participants and their parents. </li><li>Coordinate, plan and implement advising workshops that foster student growth, academic achievement and development. </li><li>Solicit parental support through sharing personal education plans (PEP) and report card review. </li><li>Establish and maintain relationship(s) with public school personnel; i.e. school guidance counselors. </li><li>Ability to work evenings (Tuesday and Thursday) and weekends (Saturdays). </li><li>Assist in the recruitment and selection of prospective students. </li><li>Conduct individual PEP sessions with program participants to determine college and career readiness. </li><li>Collect and prepare student data (i.e. grades, standardized test scores, attendance, EOF forms, evaluations/surveys, and FYE tracker). </li><li>Assist in the preparation of reports as requested by the Director of Pre-College Programs. </li><li>Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director and/or Asst. Director of GEAR UP/College Bound. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education or Student Personnel Services, or a related discipline required. </li><li>At least two years prior experience with educationally underprepared students in an advising/counseling/mentoring capacity. </li><li>Knowledge of computer programs, MS Office, design programs (Canva, Adobe), database management and spread sheets. </li><li>Ability to communicate on a verbal as well as written basis with students, staff, parents and others. </li><li>Ability to work in a team environment coordinating needed student services. </li><li>Outstanding administrative, organizational, leadership, and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively. </li><li>Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. </li></ul> <p>The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.</p> <p>Compensation: Salary is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications.
